When I accidentally catch Florida cooters and yellow belly sliders (definitly not purposely) they usually just spit the hook out.
If they do get the hook stuck it’s no big deal,they’re just biting on to it,unless it really gets loged in the mouth that’s not a good thing.

Yeah, my dad accidentaly caught a turtle and it took him 2 hours to get the hook out!Luckly the turtle lived. still why would you hold a turtle upside down?!?!?!?

the best way to hold them is by gripping their shell just above the point where they can’t bite you.

that’s with alligator snappers because they don’t have a long neck and can’t reach you there.

but with common snappers you hold them around the mid-section of their shell,because they have a long, stretchable neck
