 How will i know

i have just got some turtles off a lady and im waiting on a new tank cumming to separate them and the male keeps trying to mate with the female he keeps trying to stick it in but he wont of caut her will he as i read they stick together is this rite they are yellow bellied slider i dont want to breed them as they are lots that need homes all ready and i know it will stress the female out

i found out now they have just breed females are ment to be 5 wel mines not they stuck together for about 10 min so found the answer now cheers now i need to find out how i do a lay area in the tank incase i dont notice when she will lay to take her out

did they hatch or are they hatching?
it took awhile of confusion but i got them-

this is the turtles’ cage.



here’s the land area where they can get on and off land or if my turtles ever have to lay eggs and need a place to lay them.i put a wooden wine case on a bucket so it was about the same height as the cage,as you can see in the first pic, and filled the wooden wine case with sand,bedabeast,soil,leaves,and millet seed. i added a layer of oak leaves on top so they don’t get as much soil/sand in the water,which gets really messy, when they want to go back in.if you do the same as me, make sure the type of leaves are nontoxic or edible because i saw a chewed up leaf in the water yesterday.





here’s how they get in.




if you’re wondering why the turtle dock doesn’t sink into the water with both of my adult RES on it,


because stacked up bricks are under the dock so the dock can’t sink anywhere.it just keeps its place.the water looks really bad in the pics.

and here’s how they get out. i stack up 2 bricks and a stone on top of the dirt where their entrance/exit is so they don’t have to struggle to get out of the box, since i don’t fill the box up all the way with substrate.






i use old bird cage doors,a top of a bird cage, and a piece of metal fence i found in the stream to make this fence so they don’t get out as easily,but sometimes get out which is why i put a bucket under their most common escape route so when they try to get out they just fall into the bucket.
