 Need Help Very Worried!!

Hello everyone,
Right now i own an iguana that im so happy how huge its growing and really became part of the family. Im surprised how my mom especially is not afraid of riku(my iggy). Now i have trouble with a new pet my turtle turtlelou(gf named her) I had her for two years so far i remember she wasn’t bigger than my palm, lately i have to hold her with two hand for security. For now i have her in a 10 gallon tank, and the mean time im building a pond for my turtle. The only thing holding me back is finding i good filtration and a pump.
I really looked into keeping her healthy with proper lighting clean water enough food. I know that it tends to get boring in the tank at times for her so i let her out of the tank to wander off under my supervision in my yard. She really likes to dig a lot, so in my pond i made a sand pit has shade which is always being kept cool in the summer. Now im so worried that i noticed my turtle got a bruise on her right paw. Dont seem like a bruise but like a cut or some type of infection.

Its the red mark on the paw right under her claws, seems like swollen knuckles type of thing
im worried that if its an infection or something really bad. Ill post a clearer pic but is all i have for now.
Any ideas on how to take care of this?
I left her outside my yard so many times and before i place her back into her tank she looks normal. Just this time it worries me

this is completly normal... its a scripta elegans elegans (red ear slider)
A turtle of that size should not be in a ten gallon as you know... so Its smart your making it a pond.
You can find Good pond filtration systems at petcos and petsmarts.
and also if you look in the yellow pages or phone book I bet you will find a pond shop, or pool an pond place or something.
But from the picture I cant see any real swelling but just in case heres a link

Link
Good Luck

i its been open for that long it probably has an infection. And you might see some these sideaffects ocur Link
now im not saying these things will happen but its possible if the cuts been open for a while.
sry about my last post. I thought you were saying the EAR under the red marking was swollen.
BUT your best bet is to take it to a vet. And very often with my turtles, you cover up the scratch, provide extensive vitamin and mineral supplements to help resist infection, and then the skin grows back and your turtle is fine.
Good Luck!

well luckly not of those symptoms has occured yet. Ill be heading to the vet’s office as soon as payday comes along. But in the mean time how would i cover the wound? or with what ?
the vitamins and minerals you speak of, should i just pick them up at the nearest pet store?
thanks

yes there are Vitamin a Drops for the water Vitamin D supplements for food and tonss others. They can all be found at petco and petsmart most likely.
One thing you can do is setup an outdoor cage for now with a waterbowl he can soak in ... not deep enough for swimming.
it can be as simple as putting antibiotics on a peice of elastics and tying it around its foot, or a actuall bandaid untill told otherwise by vet. and remember to wash out wound before putting on bandage.
the main thing is make it so dirt cant get in, and keep him pretty dry not a swimming area. just a water bowl or something.

ALSO ZOO-MEDS ’REPTI WOUND HEALING AID’ put several drops on a cotton swab and gently rub it on the wound twice a day.
I am being a little over cautious but I just want to make sure your turtle is safe
Good luck!

if you do the water bowl thing, make sure he can eat in it.
water turtles don’t have saliva and can’t eat on land, but can carry food from land to water(that’s what i taught my turtles to do,but don’t try it! they get so much dirt into the water in the process!).
they rely on water to help them swallow food.

YES VERY GOOD POINT!
as I said before make it to where it can just soak not swim. but still feed it in there. you can filtrate this water or change it evey day to provent bacterial blooms

do you have a heater in the tank with your turtle? maybe its a burn?

your turtle is way to large to be in a ten gallon but i really dont think you need to start building a pond just yet.

good luck with your turtle i hope it heals.

Until you build a pond, how about putting her in a large rubbermaid container.....That would be better than a 10 gallon, and just change the water until you get a better filter.

I ahve a 200 gallon indoor pond and I use a pond pump and filter from Home depo and 2 powerheads to keep the water moving
