i found a box turtle down at out local river swimming spot. he has some nasal discharge and his eyes will crust over if i don’t keep them moist. he is definitely sick and need to go to a wildlife rehabber. i live in Virginia and hour south of richmond. if anyone can help me with info on who i can legally take him to to get the vet care he needs i would appreciate it. i currently have a russian tortoise and a small box turtle i rescued as a hatchling so i know about all the basic care which is why i noticed this turtle was sick. with my daily attention he seems to be feeling a bit better now than he first did but still needs vet care. i can’t afford to take him to the vet as my own pet but i can offer a great release area when he is rehabed. this turtle looks like an old one and i would hate to see him die because he couldn’t get help. please email me directly at with any info. thanks.
