Please help it’s only a matter of time !

I thought I would make a good title to fool you guys but the question is not quit as urgent as it was brought up to be. Now I have a read ear slider probly 2 or 3 years old and we might build him an outdoor pond. Sometimes at night in the winter it can get in the 30’but if we got him a water heater would he be ok during the winter in san deago california? aND ALSO WHAT WATER FILTER would be a really good one for 100 gallons.

I wouldn’t heat it much during the winter, personally. I’d look into how to set it up to allow for hibernation. I mean, if the water needs a heater to stay above 40, then where would he be basking that’s warm enough? Maybe during the spring and fall you might use it to keep the water 75, and then turn it down during the winter so he isn’t staying all active in warm water while breathing 38-degree air. This is all just me guessing, though. I keep everything indoors.
