BABY Box Turtle I have a brand new baby eastern box turtle. He’s doing well and eats for me. But so far the only things I have gotten him to eat are mini-meal worms, frozen blood worms, and 2 tiny crickets he will only eat if I half drown first. I tried canned "box turtle food" from zoo med and baby food, and he won’t eat those.
Any more advice on what to feed him?

Isn’t he cute?

BABY Box Turtle
He might be still feeding on his yolk from when he hatched. If there is a white line on the bottom of his shell, it could be his yolk. Once the yolk is gone, he should eat pet food. Oh, the yolk line should run down the middle of his lower shell.

BABY Box Turtle Baby box turltes only eat worms and bugs and stuff like that for the firts year then they start eating leafy greens and what not. They also like to eat in the water at this stage, shallow water. Its normal :) So any variety of bugs and worms are good, try isopods (rollie pollies or pill pugs) and earth worms cut up, along with the other things you are already feeding him, just add a little calcium to his diet and he should be good.

BABY Box Turtle They love slugs
I had a baby box turtle when I was growing up (his back legs didn’t work correctly.) Rescued from the road. His name was Sluggo cuz he loved slugs. he would eat earthworms too but they were too fast for him. He could sneak up on slugs easy.

BABY Box Turtle Yes, i have some advice for you.......(that is a girl box turtle by the way, soooo cute.... its as big as a quarter!!!!) If your turtle doesnt eat you should get your turtle a little wet and it should make her hungry. Sometimes if your turtle doesnt eat for awhile, then 2 weeks is the limit to not feed it when it doesnt want to eat. Oh and dont hibernate your turtle.... it is too young. Also exersize and get your turtle wet every day. Also, the canned food that you buy her may not satisfy your turtle.
