 Feeding issues

I need some advice, I have a very active painted turtle and he does not seem to want to eat. I feed him or attempt to every day then every other day and he seems to have stopped eating although he is still quite active. What I give him is the frozen brine shrimp and turtle sticks.

Do you have proper lighting in his set up? UV and a heat source? If you have UV and heat, what’s the basking temperature? What’s the temp of the water? Without both types of lighting, diurnal reptiles, like turtles, can’t metabolize their food properly, so they become not hungry and eventually their bodies will shut down and die.

Painteds are omnivores and need more variety than what you are currently offering. Try some veggies, like collard greens, escarole, endive, alfalfa, papaya, mango, apple, squashes (acorn, butternut, spaghetti), cucumber, and green beans, and perhaps some feeder insects (crickets, mealworms (occasionally), phoenix worms.)
