 Tail rot?

hello, can anyone tell me what tail rot looks like? sorry if this seems a stupid question, i have never seen what it looks like, so i am curious.
Plus, my uro has been shedding but his tail has stopped shedding half way down?? So i dont know if this should happen, or has he got tail rot?

it just took my mali a little over a month to shed so yours may not be finished just yet... hope that helps.

I couldnt find a pic of tail rot for sure(some that were speculation) so i didnt post those.

It often seems like they don’t care if the bottom finishes shed. Mine will work the top half off, but just run around with the bottom half all icky. It will eventually all come off. I guess maybe is isn’t ichy like it is closer to their butt. They need to rub it off, and they don’t care. Eventually it will sluff off. I think tail rot is more generalized, like on a couple of whirls or maybe even a couple of spikes. Not the entire half a tail.

The top whirl shed is loose. See it? It will be off a a day or so. Each row sheds independently. (I just love tail shed. It is like spikey empty skin!!) Don’t worry about him! He is doing exactly what he is supposed to do! Great job, though, for checking!! Shows your a concerned owner!

Thank you :) I just heard a lot of people on this site talking about tail rot and I just got worried because I used to put a bowl of water in his cage [this was when we got him, and when my brother looked after him] then when my brother gave him to me, I looked up a lot of information on uros and I heard that you should’nt put water in the cage.
So I took that out, and thought maybe he has got tail rot from when he has been running about and he used to sit on top of his water bowl n he tail used to go in the water. So I got quite worried.

How is your vet treating it ? You do have both Uro’s in separate cages right ? Have you also corrected the conditions that lead to the tail rot in thr first place ?

It’s a good idea to get in the habit of poopy scooping once it’s seen before it gets stomped on and trailed everywhere. I don’t think the contents of the poop would be enough to really cause an infection considering they’re mainly plant eaters.
