Flowers Hey everyone. I believe that I have read that roses are ok to give to uros, but I just wanted to be sure before I tried it. Does it matter what type of rose bush, etc. I have a nice big yellow rose bush, and I would love to take advantage of it if possible. Thanks!

Flowers Roses are okay, it’s just hard to get one that hasn’t been sprayed with pesticides or fed that pesticide fertilizer stuff. Mine love both pink and red, but that is the colors I grow. I have stuck to "Nearly Wild Roses" and "Knock Out Roses" because they aren’t all fancy & are very disease resistant. I just ignore them and they bloom all summer long. I grow those & hibiscus. They love them both!

Flowers I grow a rose called ’Carefree Delight’ that is fairly disease resistant, and I have never sprayed it with anything. That’s what I feed to my Uros.
If you buy a rose specifically for feeding to a Uro, I wouldn’t feed any of the roses for several months since many people (and nurseries - I work at one) use systemic pesticides, meaning chemicals that are taken up by the plant’s root systems and spread throughout the plant. If you have a rose at home that you KNOW is 100% pesticide and fungicide free, then you can feed the rose petals to your Uro. If you are not 100% sure, then I wouldn’t advise it. There are some seriously nasty chemicals used on roses :(

Flowers I have only fed roses that are found inthe deli dept of large grocery stores and flowers from Rose of Sharon bushes . I would find the scientific name and check ( google it ) to make sure that it is edible . I believe that all roses are edible but there are so many varieties I am not sure . Do not feed anything that you are not 100% sure of .

Flowers Thanks for your responses! Unfortunately, my rosebush has been sprayed with pesticides this year, so I will have to wait for my hibiscus to bloom (100% sure it is 100% pesticide and fertilizer free!)
