Breeding advice
I’m new to this fourm and live in the UK. I have already breed several species of Uromastyx but am having particular issues with Dispar Dispar. I am currently using a two tier cage, whereby the animals can drop through the floor into a large box of sand (it is supposed to simulate a burrow). The current medium in the box is a peat/silver sand mix, however the Dispar Dispar refuses to accept it as a nesting box. I have also included an internal nesting box, which she refuses to use. She then proceeds to drop the eggs randomly around the cage; she did the same thing last year. Obviously she is not finding the various nesting sites suitable, does anyone else have similiar issues with their Uromastyx? From my experiences I have found that animals have personal preferences, which makes it difficult to continually meet individual needs, has anyone found a uniform solution? P.S. nesting boxes are present all year round so animals are accustomed to their surroundings |
