 Update on mali not eating

Hello,

I wrote a post last week on my 8 months old mali. He is on paper towell. He suddenly stopped eating last tuesday and stays in his hide.
Experts on this forum confirm my set up is good, and he might be in shed.
So I went to the vet yesterday, and she tooked an x-ray. We saw a something in his stomach. Looks he is impacted with something. I think he swallowed a piece of paper.
She gave my uro 1 cc of Normosol to give him by mouth once a day. She did the first shot in front of me to show how to do it.
If it doesn’t work within 5 days, she maybe will do a surgery. My question: is what are his chance to survive to this? I can pay the vet bills, but I don’t want my baby to suffer.

thanks for any advice
merci :)

 Update on mali not eating

Hello,
The vet does not see paper towell in the stomach of my baby, bu I don’t see what it can else be. My uro has never been on sand cause I was waiting him to get more than 6 inches long. I never let him go outside his vivarium so I am sure he did not ingest anything strange.
No change since I went to the vet, he stays in his hide, moving a little. I was able to give his medication yesterday, but it was not easy. he is so small.
I will wait a few more days if this work but I am thinking about a surgery.
I feel so bad :(
thanks for your response

I’m sorry to hear it’s something more serious. I don’t know anything about handling such an impaction, so I have no advice - just good luck wishes.

Did you take in a fecal sample to be checked for parasites ?Sounds like its more likely a large infectations of worms to me .That is unless you have only had him for a short time and he was impacted in the first place .

 Update on mali not eating

thanks for your responses,
I did not have a fecal sample because he did not go to the bathroom for a week now. I have him for 7 months now and he was doing so great. I have my new 4x2x2 enclosure waiting for him!
I will wait until friday and call back the vet. She seems to know what she’s doing but she told me maybe we will have to put him to sleep... I am in tears as i write this words :(
thanks again
merci

don’t put him to sleep......also try a herp vet. when i brought my uro to the vet they stuck something up his butt to get a fecal sample. The first vet, a dog vet, that I brought my uro to almost killed him- he was near death when I finally found the herp vet. The herp vet did the fecal prescribed the proper meds for his worms and he was like new. he prescribed albon for him, the dog vet gave him liquid flagyl which nearly killed him.
