 Feeding during shedding

i was curious about the eating behavior during shedding. i dont want to feel like i am forcing her to eat during this time. i seem to be more concerned about than she is. im sure that there is a reason they do this. maybe to deplete certain vitamins in order to shed correctly. this is our first shed. she seems fine. feet are shedding first. im still trying to get the humidity lower not much luck. any ideas.

thank you so much for all of your info this is all new to me and i dont want to do anything to harm her.

As long as her temperature gradient is appropriate throughout the cage, the humidity is unlikely to be a problem. Unless, of course, you mist the cage or she has a swimming pool in there. You don’t want the cage to be bone dry. Don’t worry about her eating - just offer her food. If she wants it, she’ll eat it. If she doesn’t eat it, you’re not really out anything.

Also, watch toes VERY carefully!! Make sure no little toe rings of skin get stuck. It can cut off circulation & make the toe drop off. If you see a toe problems, soak just the toe in very warm water to encourage the skin to come off. Just that one foot.

Don’t worry about the not eating! They usually don’t eat much during a shed. They will, however, eat the shed, so don’t worry about that! Some will and some won’t!
