 Breeding questions

If you PM Uro_fan she tell tell you the ins and outs of Uromastyx breeding. The fact that the Uro. is 4 months old already tells me that this is not someone who has a lot of knowledge of the animal. I do not believe in breeding an animal for the fun of it. I see people in other forums asking questions about breeding their animals after the fact. At that point the animals are stressed and eggs are being thrown away. Too many animals are bred indiscriminately and the animals are the ones who suffer because of the lack of knowledge. I would suggest that she learns about the animal and it’s husbandry before she even thinks about breeding. I do not mean to be nasty, but care of the animal comes first.

 Breeding questions

I was thinking about breeding my 2 Malis too, and apparently it is not easy and even it can be dangerous to try to breed them.According to what i read the uros must brumate or hibernate before breeding what means they should not eat normally for a few to several weeks before the mating.I read too that many breeders caused the death of their animals forcing them to hibernate in order to breed them later. After reading that i ll just put both together during the months of March to May and let the nature do it.I ll never let my uros without food only to try to breed them.

 Breeding questions

PSIU,
I’ve read about the nessassary brumation period prior to breeding, and it seems very harsh to put my uro through, and i am having the same thoughts as you on that. I am wondering though, if uros go into hybernation in the winter, becasue it is the winter now, and he is sleeping almost all the time. Im wondering if i got him a mate if they would breed naturally if they are in hybernation. Im slightly confused on the subject, so if you figure out anything please tell me!! Good luck with your uros!!
God Bless
