Why inexpensive? uromastyx are an expensive pet to own. If you are strapped for cash id wait till you could afford the set up, lights, temp gauges/hygrometer e.t.c.

Dont take offence from my reaction, im just trying to help and dont want you to get a uro that would become ill within weeks of purchase. Look at some of our recommended caresheets and work out costs, then you can really enjoy the experience of owning a uro.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive Uro, you can look through Craigslist, Oodle, Kijiji, AdPost and other classifed websites. You’ll be adopting one that someone can no longer care for (usually because of the economy or they got bored with them). It’s really rewarding to adopt your pets instead of purchase.

Here’s a link to a Uro that’s in your state. You’d have to buy a larger tank and switch the diet, but you’d have to buy those things, no matter how you acquire your lizard. Just do lots of research and you can take care of any Uromastyx.

Make sure you don’t buy your Uro (or any pet) from a chain pet store [PetSmart/PetCo/PetLand], they come from miserable living conditions.

I don’t believe buying from a petstore(petsmart) is bad at all. You don’t realize the care that they are given, yes there are some stores that are bad but a very small percentage is. I bought my Mali from a Petsmart and my mali is awesome and HEALTHY and YES I work there too and I’m tired of people always putting us down as a horrible pet stores ’case we aren’t and we take care of our animals better then you think.

I don’t think PetSmart is that horrible, I think the breeders (Rainbow Exotics) they buy their animals from aren’t responsible. Also, I’ve heard that chain petstores get wildcaught animals, too, causing more diseases. So, it’s mainly the breeders that provide the animals for the petstores that I have concerns with. Plus, I’m very into animal adoptions, because so many pets are homeless and being euthanized at alarming rates; I feel all pets from shelters should have homes before we start breeding more, creating a bigger problem. Mainly dogs, cats, rabbits and other little furries are overpopulated and being put to sleep much too often. It’s just something I feel extremely strongly about and want to help the animals. I’m not doing it to be mean to others.

sorry for my mistake, i thought you meant cheap as in "cheap coz you cant afford to spend much" way.

Id advise one of the more respected breeders for a nice healthy uro. Check for local breeders in your area and pick carefully, uros come in many different sizes. So make sure you get an enclosure to suit the uro you intend to buy. Good luck and enjoy your new pet

P.S chain pet stores are bad!!!

Wow nice facts..PETA...You can’t expect a petstore not to have any type of loss whether it be a small animal or reptile or even fish!. Wet tail(which is what those animals died of) is common for those animals and it happens quickly and you can try to treat but only a small percentage survives. Besides that’s old news and you don’t know how much we would spend to try a save an animal in vet costs.

YOU don’t know the facts...I do and I don’t just sell my animals for profit, I CARE about my animals and I don’t just sell them to someone who wants it "’cause it’s so cute" and I know I’m helping them and not killing them. But of course you can believe whatever you want to believe but I know that what you think about our stores isn’t true.

So come on insult me some more or you can just save your breath cause I don’t care what you think of me or my job.

I’m just so sure you turn down potential customers all the time . As long as your ok with petsmarts then I guess thats all that matters to you. You can have all the excuses in the world about wet tail and how much you spend to try to save animals (sure) if it makes you feel better.

I call "our" store for all the staff that actually know the care we put into it, the hours of cleaning and maintance of the animals.

Obviously people do know that we take care of our animals and poeple know that otherwise we wouldn’t be in business for over 10 years.Hmmmmmmm I wonder why?

Break it up people. I’ve seen this stuff happen and it never ends well. Someone got reported because of these fights on this forum.

As for a good place to buy uro’s, I SERIUSLY suggest Deer Fern Farms. His website is very impresive and he has great specimens.

By the way...I GOT A URO!!! He’s a mali Ocellated Clown. 5 months old, probly a male. I talked to Mr. Dix and he made sure that I got The exact Mali I was looking for! His names Radek (Rex to every one else but me for some reason) Angus (after Angus young lol) then my last name. But he is pretty sexy lol

Wow, that’s some pretty serious denial you got going on there. Hope you sleep well at night.
There in business because of flashy ad’s and big stores. I find it hard to believe that even YOU believe the garbage that’s coming out of your mouth . The general public never bothers to do research, they just walk into the nearest petstore and walk out with a new pet. THAT’S why there still in business.
Wow, blind or ignorant , has to be one or the other. I vote the latter .

Oh I’m not in denial and I do sleep quite well at night thank you...Your very right the general public does walk in and buy animals without any knowledge and it’s up to the store associates and myself to give advice to educate them and guess what WE DO.

Those complaints aren’t much for animal cruelty I guess that cause be said for the breeders that breed reptiles and sell from home...What a life to be stuck in some tupperware container that’s 3 sizes to small for them...At least we provide the space,food and care for these animals.

I’m done having to defend myself ’cause I know I’m right so I’m going to waste my time on you and your "thoughts"
