i have had my mali for almost 6 yrs now so which puts him at 8 or 9 yrs old and i can never find anywhere or know any one who could tell me the life expectancy on this reptile. if any one has a clue please let me know. i have friends that want one but dont want something that might be able to out live them. also he has been alone for 5 yrs now and always thought about getting him a friend / compaion do u think it would be wise and if so should i get him one around his age i know never to put 2 males together. but when i bought him 5yrs ago he was with 6 or 7 differnt mali’s male and female he was approx 2 or 3 yrs of age then he is also NOT captive bred

I just looked it up for u and the thing said "Believed to be 30 years or more". Hope I helped!!

I read that in capitivity it’s between 10 to 15 years but in the wild, maybe up to 50 years. 30 years sounds more reasonable though.

NICE MALI I like em. What do you feed him and is he picky, meaning that if he was to lick one green and then move over to a pea without licking it and scarfing down the pea? more so what do you feed him and do you have any other shots .. possibly of the femoral pores with some scale?

he eats anything i put in there with in 5-10 mins i dont know where he puts it all sometimes :) he is defintly NOT a picky eater i feed him all sorts of greens some fruits crickets once in awhile im working on the pics i broke my camera waiting for it to be fixed.

My Fiance and I were told about 18 years in captivity. I think as long as you don’t have two of the same sex its ok. We have a male Red Nigerian and a female Yellow Nigerian in a 40 gallon breeder. You might even get lucky, like we did, and find eggs in your tank one day! Hope that helps......
