 Rango and wet rabbit food?

Well its been a very stressfull week. Rango ran away! One of my 3 cats some how got his/her cadge open............ After 4 days of remoddeling the house (by remodeling I meen distroying everything) I found her/him under the kitchen coburd wedged between the back wall of it and the outside wall. (This place is smarty pants..... No insluation what so ever.) She/he had crawled about 4 inches up the wall, she was so cold that when i got him/her out and on the floor she/he could barly move. So back in to the 20gallon tank for a bit. ( long enough to check him/her over for cuts and things like that. All good) I didnt put any heat in it because i didnt want her/him to move around untell i could check her/him out. I left her/him in it over night. This morning I put her/him in the new incloser after i had it kinda warmed up a bit. Next stop food........... Because she/he had been missing for 4 days I decided to give her a very small peice of rabbit food just to see if she would even try to eat it. Well she got my finger befor he/she got the rabbit food. Good start I hope. after feeding her 3-4 small peices i grabed a few more and soked them in some non clornatied water, by the time i was able to pull the cutting bord away he/she was licking the floor because she had eaten all of it minus the water that wasnt soked up by the rabbit food. Now on to the fun part!

Lets see what happens next......

?? I dont get it. You feed your uro soaked rabbit food and want to see what happens ? Theres probably a nice chance it will impact him.
Whats wrong with regular uro food ? It’s plentiful . Why on earth would anyone want to experiment with their pets health ? I never understand why people do things like this.
It’s a uro,not a rabbit.

So why is seeing if its impacted the fun part? Because that might just be "what happens next" Considering whats in rabbit pellets (the stuff that’s good for rabbits and NOT reptiles) you might just want to try feeding it vegetables. say it with me VEG- E -TAB- LES

veg·e·ta·ble   /ˈvɛdʒtəbəl, ˈvɛdʒɪtə-/

[vej-tuh-buhl, vej-i-tuh-buhl]

–noun
1. any plant whose fruit, seeds, roots, tubers, bulbs, stems, leaves, or flower parts are used as food, as the tomato, bean, beet, potato, onion, asparagus, spinach, or cauliflower.
2. the edible part of such a plant, as the tuber of the potato.
3. any member of the vegetable kingdom; plant.
4. e.g. not rabbit food

In two sentences: I fed my uromastyx rabbit food! Try feeding him vegetables!

I know I cant preach, since I don’t even own an uromastyx, but I have read the ingredients on my RABBIT’S rabbit food, and read the nutritional needs of my future UROMASTYX. The two aren’t alike in anyway.

Can I ask, why rabbit food! If you think it needs hydration, just feed you uro some spring mix or other more highly moisturized veggies. Good luck

I’m glad you found your uro. Seems like we all go through it at least once. I did, years ago. I know I felt sick to ky stomach until I found him. My was only gone over night, but I can imagine that it was. Stressful for you, and.... especially your uro. Perhaps you may want to reconsider the way your tank gets locked. If the cats figured it out, you may want to up the security.

Additional: rabbit food is best to stay away from. Is there a reason why you thought to use it?
Also: I notice that your uro was on bare bottom. Is that your uros substrate?

Cheers

first choice of food for him should be romaine lettuce and mist it a bit. This will help hydrate him again. Add some romaine in with his regular foods like chickory, escarole, cut out dandelion greens and some of the rotational foods that are high in potassium to get him nutrients and hydrated before adding other foods that will make his excrete more ’snalt’

I would love to give a status update! The 20gallon tank i had her is is in about 40,000,000,000,000,000 peices. My cat found that if he laies behind it and pushes with his feet he can knock is off the table it was sitting on. And Rango is no where to be found. As fo the new cadge I wanted to make shure my cat couldnt get in to it so i borrowed my friends ginny-pig. Well the ginny-pig didnt make. Not even 24h. My cat got in some how and was sleeping in it when i got home. As of right now the cat is no where to be found! (I tossed him out side rather than do do something mean to him.)

My oh my.... so many comments to make, which one first.
-Cat is not to blame.... its a cat. Your responsible for making sure the tanks and uros are safe. It almost sounds like you think this is funny, its not.
- uro is missing. No doubt. It just experienced the most tramatic thing its ever been through. And ontop of that, your cat probley chased it, hurt it, etc.
- so the tank that was to house your uro is not contaminated with ginnie pig. Smooth move.
- cat managed to get in tank in less then 24 hours. How hard is it to build a tank to keep something in and to keep preditors out. Not a complicated process. If this is a hard task for you, maybe you should not own a uro.
- cat got thrown outside......... like its the cats fault.

You understand that your the one that needs to provide the safety, and general care for the uro right?
These creatures expect and require that you completely provide them all that they need, including a safe life.

I’ feel very frustrated, annoyed, discouraged, irritated and provoked by your comments.
I will not be responding any further to this thread.

First of all please learn how to spell. You’re killing me.

I hope the Uro never comes back. Its sad to say but its better off dead than suffering in your hands. Don’t go out and buy any more pets please.

Sport- I must admit,I’m new to this as well and have made some mistakes but your mistakes seem to be one after the next and also pretty detrimental to the well being of your Uro. As far as the cat goes, there is no excuses. I have 3 large breed dogs (a pit bull,a Labrador, and a golden retriever) living in my home. My golden has an extremely high small animal prey drive and I have NEVER had any issues like you. & that is a 80lb dog, your talking about a cat. Somehow when I picture your Uro’s situation I automatically start picturing like a "Tom & Jerry" scenario. You need help,my friend. And might want to consider giving your Uro to someone who actually cares enough to take the precautions necessary to provide a good life.

I don’t believe any of it. He’s having a hoot at your expense.

being a troll would jsut make him stupider, this isn’t laughing matter, and if he thinks it is, then he should learn what immaturity is.

Story is "too good to be true"! I cannot believe someone could massacre the English language as bad as that post depicted A cat then a "ginny pig" gets involved. Got to love it!!! Please try to use the spell check once in awhile.
