Free Juvenile Egyptian Uro about 9 inches, need gone ASAP. If I had the room for it I’d take it...but no vacancy here :( I would post a thread on Herp Center and Uromastyx.org, which should help get the word out there. If you would like, I could do that for you since I’m a member of both forums. In any case, I would urge you to send it to someone with knowledge of the species rather than just anyone just to offload it asap--wouldn’t want to issue it a death sentence or send it to someone who may turn around and do the same thing you’re doing now (no offense, of course).
On another note, what did you end up ’replacing’ it with?

Free Juvenile Egyptian Uro about 9 inches, need gone ASAP. Im replacing it with a "friendly" adult banded Uro, i really just dont have years of patience to wait and see if my Egyptians temperament will change, i really want to be able to watch one during the day instead of it hiding.

Free Juvenile Egyptian Uro about 9 inches, need gone ASAP. So i asked the place i ordered from what they have been feeding the Uro that i bought and they said "crickets, bird seed, and a little greens", hahha that is crazy, clearly unaware of the diet requirements. So my question is, what is the best way to transition him to what i feed which is endive/escarole? Should i wean him off crickets like throw in one or two every couple days or what?

Free Juvenile Egyptian Uro about 9 inches, need gone ASAP. some uro’s will take a long while to accept a keeper. My Egyptian still does not fully trust me. Mine would run and hide when I entered the room for about two years. she is 4 now and just starting to come around and not be stressed when I’m around. Its not a few days, weeks, moths it can be much longer. I believe you acted to quickly. Most rescues do a piss poor job keeping lizards. especially one that will need a very large cage. If I were in usa I would have picked the uro up. I personally could not give up any animal. I hope your new uro does well and I hope the Egyptian is in good hands.

Free Juvenile Egyptian Uro about 9 inches, need gone ASAP. rescues usually try and keep contact with the person who gives the animal up in case they can find a home later. rescues usually don’t have much room especially for the care of an Aegyptia that requires large living area and more electricity than ’shelters’ want to pay not to mention the fresh varried diet that should be provided daily and special lighting.

Free Juvenile Egyptian Uro about 9 inches, need gone ASAP. So what would have been the accepted way to give him up if nobody was interested in buying it? I think probably alot of people would have just let it go outside somewhere if no other options. Sure a small operation reptile rescue might not have a 125 gallon tank for the Uro but I must tell you that the person that runs the rescue had a Uromastyx for 15 years so its in good hands and not in the local river :)

Free Juvenile Egyptian Uro about 9 inches, need gone ASAP. There are some rescues that do a fantastic job with their lizards but there are just as many if not more bad ones. If you found one of the good ones than you did what is right if you really needed to relocate the animal. However I am personally of the belief that if you bring an animal into your life you are 100% responsible for it no matter what problems or issues it may have, by relocating a shy animal you have just prolonged any chance if acclimation that it may have. Whrn you bring that animal into your home you make that commitment to it, it’s much like iwhen you bring a baby or child into your life. You can’t replace your child if it’s personality doesn’t match your lifestyle so how would that make your animal disposable?

The responsible thing to do would have been to keep it until you yourself could find a proper home for it. It’s not like the animal presented any danger to you or anyone else nor was it a matter of whether or not you lacked the ability to care for it. The reasoning behind why you gave the animal up does not call for the action you took, in my opinion. That said, what’s done is done...

I very happily make that analogy I have pets instead if children right now and when I chose to own an animal that is still technically a wild animal even if it is captive bred I knew that I would have to change my life around their life instead of trying to force them to change. Much like it happens when you have a kid.

Free Juvenile Egyptian Uro about 9 inches, need gone ASAP. Like i said it went to someone who had a Uro for 15 years which IS a proper home, i am sure they know how to care for it having one that long. My reasoning makes perfect sense, I wanted a Uro to observe on a daily basis not on a once-every-three-month basis, Im not going to wait 10 years just to see if it might become more friendly, life is too short for that. I highly doubt he is going through some emotional struggles as well.

While that person may have the ability to care for the animal, unless they have the intention of keeping it you’ve basically just passed the buck.

Free Juvenile Egyptian Uro about 9 inches, need gone ASAP. does this hurt you inside personally or something? has this kept you up at night? some of you think you are just uromastyx elitists and that is why you guys are dummy to new people on here constantly including me when i first came here months ago and thats the reason you only see posts by the same few people that just want to see their words on the screen, there is only a handful of regulars here for that reason, this forum is dead. I know how to raise a uro now so its not like i even need to come on here , theres other forums where the people arent elitists.
Maybe ill get two more and house them together just to keep you guys up at night worrying.

Don’t get confused, I’m not at all that concerned and this has nothing to do with being an "elitist"...I just pointed out your apparent irresponsibility in the matter. If you’re offended by that, then so be it, but that was not my intent. It just is what it is.
Hopefully the animal finds a good home in the end--that’s all that matters :)
