OT: UVB and gin and tonic Ok, so this is not about keeping uros.I got home after a bad day at work and fixed myself a gin and tonic (not my usual drink, just had a whim for one) I went to check on Ryu to see how he was doing and noticed my drink was fluorescing a bright blue. Being the total geek that I am I whipped out my UVB meter to try and see the correlation between gin, tonic, and UVB. After several more gin and tonics I decided that it was the tonic that fluoresced under UV light (which may not be a surprise to those of you who drink gin and tonics in a nightclub with UV light) and not the gin. I also determined that it was most likely that light more in the UVA range was what made the tonic fluoresce as my drinks would start glowing at a mere 1mw/cm2 of UVB. The best fluorescence was obtained by placing my drink directly under my megaray light putting out over 1000mw/cm2 of UVB light (and unknown quantities of UVA light). Of course after that I put a large pinch of bee pollen in Ryu’s cage to apologize for the fact I was using his basking light for scientific(well maybe...) experiments. Of course this whole post could be due to the influence of several large gin and tonics. Hm-mm... maybe I can sell bottles of tonic as UVA measuring devices. Naahh much better to drink it.
