 Do water moccasins need Water?

I recently got a new cottonmouth and dont know if they need a fully aquatic cage with limbs or if they can get by with a waterbin in the cage? I have had a water container in there but never see her in it. I know they love water but what would be best for a in home setup?

Just an idea here, but I was looking into a FWC, and I got a lot of suggestions of having a cat litter box in the tank for water...not sure about the mater moccasin, just a thought.

the snake will do fine with a decent size water dish but you also need to provide a larger hide for that snake. heres an idea though, find out what the snake needs BEFORE you have it.

Looks like a pretty good set-up but add a little potting soil to the sand 50/50 and get a little bit bigger hide box. Large water bown is fine because cottons usually stay on land and stumps after hunting....

well i know they at least need a water dish so thats what I put in there. having a cage of water is to much i thought. I kept other venomous and just used a simple bowl and i got her on really short notice she was on paper towels until i got some cypress susbstrate yesterday. but now i got a new problem she ate 2 days ago and dummy today but it had blood in it. Im assuming this is not normal.

Are you saying the cotton had blood in it’s stool?? If so, may just be from the substate getting in with the mouse. Shouls be ok but keep an eye out for the snake eating cypress susbstrate with the snake. Most of the time it won’t hurt the snake but may cause a little bleeding as seen today.....

ReptiLover has a medical book. I will get him to look that up when he and his boytoy get home from their date.
