Venomous Reptiles of the Western Hemisphere covers a lot of information on New World Venomous. It does not go into husbandry. It isn’t that kind of book.

Venomous Snakes in the Terrarium is a great husbandry book. But to be honest, I don’t like to go for husbandry manual type reading. I would much rather spend my time reading up on the natural history and habitat of the animal and draw my own conclusions for husbandry. This book offers enough to work from though.

While I do not own B.W. Smith’s book, I hear it is a good one.

My old world library is fairly limited, so I’m sorry I can’t offer more in regard to good books that cover venomous. That I suppose is where your more generalist books come into play (like Venomous Snakes in the Terrarium)

And just as a quick note for someone going into college..."there care in captivity" The correct word you need is "their." I don’t like to be the spelling and grammar police, but I would expect people to point out my mistakes if they notice them. It bothers me to wonder how many people notice my mistakes and do not say anything.

B.W. Smiths Venomous Snakes in Captivity is a great book for someone just getting into the hobby of keeping hots. it focuses more on safety in general and offers many tips to keep you and the snakes happy. i do however agree with SoLA that you need to read up on the species you plan on keeping in order to better understand that species and how to care for it. good luck to you.
