That animal was purely a find that just had us floating on our footsteps enjoying just looking at it. No way could I have ever taken it...even if it was legal. Everyone was making fun of me for this one too. I waited for a half an hour for this thing to pop back out of the water after someone spotted it and it went under...where I then climbed down a short steep hill to the water side after it re-appeared and got it out of the water with a tiny midwest pocket hook. Where I then took it back up the hill and stayed with it for another hour until a friend came with a better camera. Believe it or not, it is one of my favorite snakes in the country.
