 Reptile Room

Hey everyone, I posted this in the ball python forum and realized I did not show off my new snake room pictures to the friends in here. I just bought a new house and I spent a good chunk of time and change designing a room for my Latin American snakes. I have some plans on expanding it a little and adding a few more cool features to spice it up a bit...but for now here is a peak at what I have going.

First pic I think is a cool peak at the room with the cage lights out.

here is with the lights on

And here are some ball pythons on the floor. I really really wanted a marble floor for this room and I dont have any regrets. I think it is way nicer looking than carpet and a lot easier to clean.

Looks great. Like the cages. We are slowly heading that way. We have a nice 8 ft cage coming from Monster cages in a couple weeks for our Nile Monitor. Can’t wait. You did a really good job on your room.

Cheers

What type of Rack system is that? Man I Would like to find some extra money and do something like that. All of my set-ups are custom made and are very different from each other. It would be cool to have some rhythm in them..

Those are all Animal Plastics cages Jeff. Right now I just have the same set up on each side of the room and they all have Latin American snakes in them. I have some really cool plans on the expantion and some of the high tech things to make it easy to work with (they are already on Herpstat Pro thermostats controlling both warm and cool ends where I want. But I have a Herpstat Humidity ready to go when I get a misting system so I can set them all to the exact percentage of humidity).

All the cages have too locks as well so nothing gets in or out without my saying so lol. I mention this only because I think everyone with hots should think about it.

Let me know if you have any more questions and I hope to get some more pics when I get back in town.

If I could reccomend a caging system...it’d be Habitat Rack and Caging Systems.
I personally think there the best of the best, and...if you heard of him, this is the cage they hold Notorious in, the 14 foot King Cobra who has bittem 4 and killed 3 of his previous owners :).

Nah, I’ve seen him though, and holy cow!
He is meaner the mean I tell yeah!
Ever since tom ripped that eye cap off his eye after a bad shed...
WHOA!
Anytime somebody walks by he goes to the front of the cage and raises, looking at you eye to eye.
and I’m 6 foot LOL
That snake scares me.
I’ll try looking for a link.

Notorious is 16 feet long,
I couldn’t find any pictures of him, but theres plenty of news articles about him being trapped at the airport.

We actually have Habitat Systems cages at work on exhibit. We had a combination of Habitat Systems, custom cherry wood cages, and vision cages. Now we got rid of all the visions and replaced with Animal Plastics.

Don’t get me wrong, the Habitat Systems cages are very cool, but there are lots of things I actually like more about the Animal Plastics cages (the locking system, heat and replacement ease, sliding glass and ability to set in your own backgrounds, COST, etc.)

Our big king cobra is in a 10 ft x 2.5 ft x 4 ft Habitat Systems cage and it is awesome. Something I would love to have in my house if I were keeping like 2 or 3 snakes. All of our rattlesnakes are in animal plastics cages with backgrounds from another company and they look extremely sharp (even though we had a heck of a time cutting around the lights to fit the backgrounds).

Personally, for a home collection especially, if you have lots of snakes and limited room, you can’t beat Animal Plastics.

I think at the Rattlesnake Museum at Albuquerque, New Mexico uses Animal Plastics, Not totally sure,
But my good friend, Zach Wright, works with Tom at Snakes Alive during the Iowa State Fair, and also used to work at the original Habitat System’s warehouse and store.
So if I need any custom cages I get a little discount here and there LOL.
I was offered a 645$ Monkey Tailed Skink, set up (Also was used for Corn snakes, kings, and Mangrove Snakes) For 250$, Due too the fact that my MOTHER was all up tight about it and said "we didn’t have any room" (plenty of it) and my pay check went towards my 1.2 A. Kenyan pair,
I couldn’t get it :/
It was a 34 Gallon Set up, at was well made, also had Stand (with refrigerator for mice, and perishables) Helix temp. control system and a Pretty well down top basking light (Well guarded)
It was a neat set up, but I couldn’t get it.
