I see from your final post that you’re just kidding, but you should find something better to do with your time.

Bear in mind that, wherever you live, your juvenile son cannot own a venomous snake. If the snake is in your house, it’s YOURS. If it escapes and bites someone (or even if it just scares them), YOU, not your son, are the one who is going to get sued.

I’m a snake collector, and I have had numerous hots (including a gaboon) over the years. But if your son’s "pet" gaboon gets loose and bites someone and I’m on the jury, you’ll get no sympathy from me. You’d better be sure your 401(k) is in Costa Rica or the Cayman Islands.

because so many people spoke out against it it has been dropped for now. the hot laws in nc are no solid. as long as ac doesn’t walk into your house when the cage is open they can’t really do anything. the new laws were mainly to target big cat open who are stupid and keep these animals in dog pens out in there back yard. so when they wrote it they targeted all exotics. but thanks to people like will leary and the reptile expo there was enough support to get them to leave us alone for now.

Venomoids are a very sore subject (both for people and the poor snakes that the surgury is done to). You can find them on different sites online. Just remember that a) the surgury really effects the snakes badly b) they remove the gland but some say it can regenerate if anything is left of it c) Some are sold as venomoids but are actually not. To have the surgury done correctly it is extrememly expensive and can be very harmful to the snake. Look instead at learning proper handling / caging skills and then go get a good health gaboon when you are ready. Modifying an animal to make up for a lack of experience and skills is wrong period. It would be like sowing your dog’s butt shut so that you don’t have to take it out. Learn proper care and understand that it takes time and a commitment to keep any animal. Anything less is abuse.
