Very cool snake, but from what I’ve heard they don’t like being on a snake hook. Also since we’re on the subject, is a Gaboon viper and a Gaboon adar the same thing?

It isnt that they dont like being on a hook..Its that they are completely heavy bodied and the ribs tend to be a little more delicate because of "Added weight" as soon as I get MY computer back Ill Post photos of my "lil" guys....

Trying to get one to stay put on a hook is like trying to keep a two year old from making a mess with speghetti... at least with my luck Im sure there are others on here that have had better luck...But my rattlers hook and handle easy

Spelling is Adder BTW

Hey Celtic what’s wrong with your computer? Or is it still the Internet that is not working right?

Using two hooks is best for gabbies and rhinos, unless you like tailing. After seeing some of the moves they can make, two hooks is better, in my opinion, especially with snakes that powerful.

Ok, but is the Gaboon Viper and Gaboon "Adder" the same snake? Just curious.

Yes, gaboon vipers are sometimes referred to as adders. It depends on where you are.

I love the gaboon too. Magnificant creature. I have been keeping constricters for 3.5 years now but I hope to get a gaboon when my daughter goes of to college in several years. I figure by then hopefully I will have enough experience with snakes in general to tackle a bad boy of this magnitude. I know Iwill have to get the proper permits and such and most importantly, have a really good enclosure built for it. As I am a novice to the world of hot snakes, am I biting off too much for wanting this as my first snake? I have rad up extensively on them already and plan to learn more in the future. I have also checked into the details of obtaining anitvenom (red tape ****) $$$$$$.
