Eggs And Not Sure What To Do

I have a female CWD that I purchased last November with three babies. Today she laid 7 eggs in her pond and I do not have an incubator ready. I have put them in Sterilite under a heat lamp in the habitat, will this be ok? How long do they hold eggs, and how do you know if they are fertile? At what age are they able to fertilize eggs? Please answer I do not want to lose her babies.

That would not be a good idea. if thier in the same cage as the mom she might crack them. you need a incubator or they wiwll die

it’s a slight risk leaving them in there, that would work though. try to find out what temp the spot they’re on is exactly so you know what temp the eggs are getting.

There’s a male in the cage too right? Cause if not then they aren’t fertilized lol

Here is a link for making an incubator yourself. incubator. The eggs need to be consistently 83 degrees in a high humidity environment, and that is why dragons bury their eggs so deep. (Well, usually.) If you just place the eggs like you described they will fluxuate temps with drafts and stuff. Also probably dry out, if they haven’t already.

They are probably not fertile if she hasn’t been with a male, although they can store sperm for months, or so I’ve been told. If they are not fertile, they will start to dent and shrivel up pretty quickly.

And it is also not a good idea to leave eggs in the viv b/c the adults may eat the babies as someone already mentioned.
