 Questions about female egg laying habits???

Our water dragon was given to us and we were informed it was male. I posted photos on this site and most everyone replied that the dragon was female. Well, you were all right. Our dragon has laid eggs. I know without a male the eggs are infertile and won’t hatch, but I have some questions still. Do they usually lay the eggs all at once, and how many do they lay? Also, what is the incubation time (for them to hatch) if they were fertile? Our dragon has laid 8 eggs, but she only lays one every two to three days? Is that normal--Do they create a nest? Because she just lays them all around her tank! Can anyone answer these questions. Your opinions really count. Thanks so much.

Do you have a lay box? If not, you are lucky she layed them at all. If you don’t have one, you should put one in in case she needs to lay a few more eggs. It’s just a box that is filled with soil that the dragon will dig in and lay her eggs in; if she decides that’s a good spot to lay.

Here’s a website about what you have to do if you have a female. If you scroll down, the last section is called: Special Care is Required for Females. That will tell you about what you should do.

I believe it is normal for them to lay eggs not all at once. I have never heard of a female who has anyway. They do not really make a nest, just dig a hole and lay the eggs in there. As for the incubation time and how many eggs they lay, I don’t know the right answers to that. Someone else I’m sure can tell you, or you can try looking it up on the internet.

They usually lay a clutch all at one time. Mine has laid 3 clutches this year. You HAVE to have a lay box, and like Dragonpaw said, you are lucky she didn’t become egg bound by not having a lay box.
