 I think my WD ate a sea shell

well i have this coconut head in my WD’s viv and it has these little blue painted sea shells for eyes. Yesterday i say her down at the bottom of the viv next to the coconut but i didn’t pay much attention and just picked her up and put her at the top. Then today i went in the viv to straighten up and i saw that the coconut only had 1 eye. Then i started freaking out. i pulled the other eye off of it and held it next to morrison and he tried to eat it! then i held a superworm next to him, he didn’t pay any attention to it. i did that a few times and every time he tryed to eat the eye and paid no attention to the worm. My Mom already said no to taking him to the vet. Is there any way i can check to see if he ate it or any thing i can do for him!?!?

All you can do is wait it out, and double check you enclosure. Also take anything out that is small enough to swallow and cause harm. Best of Luck!!

Okay i gave her a few drops of mineral oil and then i started taking out all the things i thought she could swallow out of her cage. Then i started hearing a crunching sound and i looked up and she was trying to eat one of the eye hooks holding up her hammock!! I know she’s not hungry because earlier today she ate 3 dozen LARGE crickets, 10 superworms and 2 chunks of chicken about the size of a quarter each. I dont know how to get her to stop eating everything! Any one have tips on WD proofing her own cage?

Nice she has a good appetite though

I suggest removing anything that might resemble food.... I have this bamboo rod placemat type thing in Angus’ cage because he really likes it and its held together with white rope... well the end of the rope was sticking out a good inch and he mustve thought it was a worm because he was trying really hard to eat it.... Looks like a waxworm to me!!! lol

But I dont see how that shell looks like food.... hmm... just anything that could possibly fit in her mouth... and because she is an eater I would make extra sure that everything in the tank is sanitary... maybe to a thurough cleaning soon just to be sure...

Mama42 has experience with Littlefoot eating everything in sight... maybe you can ask her.... or maybe she will be online soon...

figure the shell will be good calcium...

yeppers!! little foot is my vacuum cleaner (i think thats how to spell vacuum...anywho, if not "new spelling"!). he will eat a piece of binder paper! ive caught him!! and one day, he was behind a shelf and found a wrapper. the kind from like taffy or something... and, it was pretty big, i went to go get him (im all DROP IT MISTER!!) and he took off with it! like "its mine! its mine!" "your not taking away from me!" lol.... i chased him a good 5 minutes and around the living room. should have seen it! my lvgroom was tore up from redecorating and such, so i was having a problem getting to him...it was very comical!! lol.....oh, and he ate it! swallowed it real quick like when i finally caught him....

anywho....sorry, havnt been on in a couple of days due to com probs, so i NEED to type!

i wouldnt worry as long as he poos it out. just be careful as you dont want him to get into the habit. im trying to teach/train little foot not to eat everything in sight if thats possible...

oh....and talk about eating things that look "wormy".... he was siting in the window and i have a shell mobile or chime or whatev...sitting in the window and he wants to eat that! at the bottom of it is those long conicle shells that are pointy at the end....

oops! rambling!!!! see...i havnt been on in 2 days!!!!!!!!!
