 OT: I CAUGHT THAT SNAKE!!

Omg, I don’t know how many of you remember that snake that got into my house last year, but I finally caught it!! (It was on my bed two nights)

My kids leave the doors open all the time, which is how it got in the front door in the first place. After the winter, I was aware of it in the house for a few days, then we weren’t hearing it. I guess it went out the back door into the back yard, ’cause that is where I caught it just now! I don’t know what it is yet, but ooooh boy oh boy was he ever Maaaad! He kept striking and striking! Yikes!

 OT: I CAUGHT THAT SNAKE!!

Today on the job I was ecstatic to capture a beautiful California King snake sunning by the customers trash cans off the garage as we did some work there. I had to get a cloth as it did the defensive posturing and preparing to strike , but once I had it gently in my grasp it became quite calm after 3 -4 minutes of handling.

I did release it , remorsefully, but I knew better than to bring it home to the wife and have to plead for her to accept what she never will.

It was a stunning specimen 2.5 - 3 ft long. No major battle scars and quite healthy. I have loved snakes since I was a boy...

Ty mama for not killing it .... good job...

Apparently this snake was bothering one of the neighbors, then got into my house last year. (I sure hope it is the same one you guys, now I have the heebeejeebees, lol.) Turns out it is a garter snake. I had the dickens of a time catching it, I am deathly afraid of snakes. But I did. I was gonna make my son keep him outside, but he cleaned up his room and made a spot for the 35 gal tank we have it in. (Now he has a gunea pig, a hamster, 4 mice, a turtle, fire-belly toad and a fish tank in there, lol!)

I guess I need to go over to the garter snake forum to make his habitat all nice for him. Here is what he looks like:

Chris promptly named him ’Jake" lol.

 OT: I CAUGHT THAT SNAKE!!

We have tons of garter snakes in our yard, those are the ones we used to catch, I remember my big brother wanted to keep one (he was like 12 at the time) and shoved it in a water jug (one of the 5 gallon ones) said he was going to keep it in its room until it get 20 ft long then he would release it LMAO yeah funn funn

I have some other stories but for another time....

Ok just one more, when Dave was a kid he was playing with his friends and cut through his neighbors yard fell through some plywood into a 6ft ditch dug out and it was FULL of garter snakes harmless but he said there were hundreds of them (the guy was breeding them and they lay 50-60 eggs a clutch)and Dave was about 6yrs old and that woudl scare the crap outta anybody so he doesnt do snakes :D

Biggest one I have seen though was maybe 3 ft... just babies... Im so glad we dont have any poisonous snakes around here though... oh I would hate to live in FL :D Go over the mts though and the eastern side of the state is full of rattlers.... *shivvers*
