 Soon to have babies!

Well, for a while now, Brian and I had the inkling that Saphira was preggers...well, it’s affirmed, she’s been digging like a beast all day...half the dirt is now in the water, lol! The funny thing is she’s laying in this box over the water we have...a ledge. That was the original purpose of it, and I’m amazed she’s using it. Now it’s just time to wait.

Hey Cherrykins, I guess you might be really happy with this...

Are you going to incubate her eggs, or they are not fertile?

I have been through this experience quite some times by now, Moleca laid 5 clutches this year, and is about to lay another one (which I hope to be the last till Sep/Oct), and I’m crazy to have the eggs I’m incubating by now to hatch...

We’re incubating..she’s with a male, so they should be fertile. She just gobbled down a dozen waxies, a special little treat for her working so hard...she took a break after she ate, I poured a bit of water on her to hydrate as she kicked all the dirt in the water and now there really isn’t any clean water, hehe! She basked for a minute, is relaxing now, and is going to go back in a few minutes. Ooh, and we are excited...I’ll make sure to ask you if I have any questions, Buiatti. :)

I’ll be really glad to give any help if I can. Specially because I’m making like a mix of a thing I saw, and things I read, and now I’m incubating 8 eggs in a way made out of this mix (lost 2 till now), and today, with the new clutch of 13 eggs (yes, Moleca laid 13 eggs today), I’m goint to try something a little different from the eggs that may hatch by the end of this month.

Just one detail, when you’re removing the eggs, be sure you’re not rotating them in any direction. I’m using a sort of sand called Vermiculita, which is really good in keeping the humidity, and is also good in transferring it to the eggs.

Yes, I have crested geckos that lay eggs rather frequently and I’ve been incubating them in moist coconut fiber because the vermiculite isn’t holding up for me humidity wise. I’m going to be ordering some hatchrite because it’s supposed to be fantastic for incubating...so we’ll see how that goes.
