 Is this plant safe?

Hi everyone, I’m new to these forums. I just purchased a water dragon and I have found many great tips on your forum on how to care better for him! Thanks :)

I do have a question though, I cannot identify this plant I have here. it is rubbery and very soft....I want to know if it is safe to put with my dragon. It doesn’t seem to be harmful at all but I can’t be sure.

Any tips would be great :)

No problem for your dragons but I can’t guarantee that the plant will live very long! Is it pothos? I am not sure, forgorten the name, but it is fine.

I know the plant has been in low light for a while now. I got it directly under a repti-glo 5.0 uvb bulb...do you think that will help? I’m keeping it watered regularly.

i looked at some pothos pictures and they look exactly like it. thanks so much cloud

I think what she is trying to say is that your lizard will end up shredding the plant up, not that it will die from no sun/water. I would think that the plant will grow as long as u have uvb bulb/uva bulb and u water it daily. I have a lucky bamboo in my cage, and my WD likes to climb it, but has yet to tear it up.

I would think it’s a philadendron. Is that the same as pathos?

i don’t know--it’s the plant i know as a trailing philadendron; i don’t know what a pothos is. i’d look at anapsid.org. i seem to recall having heard something about toxicity, but i’m no definite on it. melissa kaplan has a whole list, though. check there.

i am 100% sure that, that is infact pothos. Its perfectly safe for your waterdragon, i use it in all of my tanks including a big one in my waterdragons cage which it loves to sleep on. Realy just keep it well watered and there EXTREMELY hard to kill. The only time mine start to die off is when it grows up too close to the light and the leaf just srivels up but the rest of the plant is fine. it also grows fairly fast.

to keep this plant alive keep it away from UVB light and intence heat (under basking spot)

plants need light to live though. a "day light" compact fluorescent light is that people use for indoor growing of plants (hydro farms and the aero garden kitchen garden)

if you take that info you can have the plant grow well. if you notice the growth of the plant stops then the plant isnt getting enough food from soil and, or the plant is to big for the pot :)
