 Night-Crawlers or Red Worms/Wrigglers?

Which of these earthworms would be the best to feed my reptile? Have been hearing of rumors of how red worms are toxic to reptiles. What do you guys think with your experience?

mine goes CRAZY for night crawlers. Too bad the low in fat i feed them as a treat, but they are high in calcium.

Angel,

I used to have a compost box outside ...alll veggie matter went into it and then I added worms ...they love it, if the temps are mild between 60-85 F, they will breed and you will have many. They are non toxic ...and red wigglers are sold by the hundreds for composting .... Look up worm man ...and other worm raising farms ...get your colony started ... and think green ...it really utilizes all organic as a food source for worms and gardening. Do not add any meat products to the compost box, it will attract flies and maggots and other vermin ....

nightcrawlers always get my Rexx to eat when hes going on a hunger strike xD they are fairly easy to raise and really easy to find if you have a compost heap ;)

:D best of luck!!!!

CD ,

The compost box will slow down in it’s activity below 60...and the worms will seem to disappear....but they dig down as far as possible...mine was outside just four sides about 18" tall... 5x3 dimensions. , no bottom, except Mother Earth.... They always came back when it warmed up...I had other bettle grubs too ...the Japenese and 10 lined bettles...awesome fat grubs the dragons loved em...they live as grubs for 2 seasons before morphing and flying off. Then they return to lay eggs in the rotting / compost.

A true circle of life ....

BTW ...the worms love paper products too!! non shiny non colored paper. News paper and plain paper and paper towels...shredded paper too.
