I would bet the dog is making the dragon feel insecure or threatened. This would make the dragon hide and not eat. I dont own a dog myself. However, when my buddies bring there dog over, the dragons all move around the branches and lock eyes on to the dog.

OK , I’ll bite....

If we are going to try to help we need more info...please tell us about your enclosure size / temps/ humidity.....and I wonder if the dog may cause the lizard to stress / hide / not eat??

Also if your food items are getting boring it may be time to change it up a bit....

Have you ever seen this site ...How to care for your dragon...much to read and learn.

Tricia’s home page

What can you tell us about her past behavior and eating habits ...weight and length...

What lighting are you providing ...any UVB ??

What suppliments and vitamins ??

Please let us know so we can put our heads together...

Well right now I have her in a 10 gallon tank with calci sand and a big water dish which is changed daily. I have her tank at a comfy 82 degrees with a regular white light and a uvb red heat light. I’m not sure about the humidity and she is about 17 inches in length and maybe a pound at most. she has a little hammock in the corner which is her favorite spot, right under the light, I feed her large meal meals currently. she didn’t like crickets at all she did in the beginning now she wont be bothered. I know her setup is very basic and it will be upgraded soon but I have to weight until i get more money so i can give her the best. usually she eats about 3 to 4 meal worms a day with calcium spray and vitamin spray. it’s only since I’ve moved in with my boyfriend and his dog that I noticed her lack in appetite . I’m really worried about her and i’m starting to think the best thing to do is to sell her to a better home with no dogs, I really don’t want to do that because I have fallen in love with my little lizard. all your help is very much appreciated. If theres another other info that you guys need please let me know and i will do my best to provide it. thank you so much for all your help.

Ash ...the red light is not UVB ...please read up on what UVB is and how to get it ...OMG ... the red heat lamp is Infared heat only!!

Please read the web site ...TRICIA"S WATER DRAGON CARE that I gave you ...you will soon see that what you have learned and or were told is not accurate...The temps are too low ... they need to be 85 and slightly warmer at the hotest spot ...with a daytime low of 80-82

This can be rather expensive ...about 40-70 for UVB if you are starting from square 1 do you have any other light fixtures that you can use??

I am running out the door to visit friends...will be back later.

well I’ve tried something new today to help my little Kratos, I put our dog in the bedroom for the day to see if she would respond to the peace and quiet. she seems more relaxed and jumping and running around her tank like she used to so maybe the dog is it? on the other issue of the uvb lamp I’m going to be getting one as soon as i can afford it..which wont be too much longer thankfully for her. she still doesn’t seem to interested in the meal worms so I’m also going to try changing up her food choice in case she hasn’t just gotten bored with the selection. i know i would get tired of eating to same ol thing everyday. thank you again for your info CP.

Ashes ...ok I need to take a deep breath...there is so much to know ...and so little time...lol

First did you have a chance to see the NEW DRAGON OWNERS THREAD??

Secondly , the UVB is important ...and I wonder how long you have not really had any...?

If you can get some natural sunlight on her with no glass or screen to interfere with the sun ...it will be good medicine for it. About 20-30 minutes a day is equal to 10-12 hours of artificail light. A bird cgae / rat cage / rabbit hutch works well. The space between the wire / 1/4" hardware cloth allows unobstructed sunlight to reach the dragon ....next thing is temps...

Do you have a temp gun or digital temp gauge...the round dial type are often inaccurate.

I want to share some links with you so you can be well informed about dragons and lights and food...
and as a side note meal worms are not suggested as they are very difficult to digest due to their CHITIN or tough exo skeleton. Super worms are in fact a better food source...for whatever reason their exo skeleton is not as hard to digest ...crickets are good too. Please try the veggies that an iguana can eat...they are high in calcium and rich in vitamins. If you are sucessful at this, your dragon will live much better and have good health.

Ok here are those links I said I would tag ....

NEW OWNERS

REPTILE UV
Iggy salad 1 of many
More about lighting

I know , I know ...time and money...

Hurry is all...I hope you can read up as soon as possible Water dragons are quite suseptible to illness as they are fragile tropical creatures and easily stressed.

Don’t mean to scare you ...just a precautionary warning..
