So, water dragons can live together?

that’s the impression i’m getting. i bought one. i couldn’t help myself. the guy wants $40 for the dragon (3 yr old male) and his setup. of course, i haven’t seen either one yet, except the pic on craigslist. this is him:

his name is going to be stewie. i’m going to pick him up tomorrow. but i’ve never succeeded in having one of anything (i even had two husbands--not at the same time--ar!ar!). so can i get him a friend? not immediately, but the next time i see one that needs me (which hopefully won’t be soon)?

i always knew you would come over to the dark side. lol

wow...hes supposed to be a 3 year old male? man he is severly under sized. he only looks about a year or so in that picture. and the males get big and bulky!

but youve got the iggies, so you know about building a new set up and all.

but with homing them together, males cant be housed together. a male and female cant be countuinaly housed together. he will stimulate her to lay eggs more often than whats normal, and thats not healthy. but 2 females would be fine together.

but simon is housed by herself and she does just fine. she was ok when Ru was with her. and she wasnt to heart broken when Ru passed.

but these guys are addictive. i got simon last november, and then i got Ru in i think febuary. lol.

i was trying so hard not to! but ever since i fell in love with that tiny, brave one, it’s been in my mind.

i’ve been reading; if that dragon is really 3 years old he should be at least two foot, probably closer to three. according to the ad, he’s 12 inches. not a good sign. i was thinking about the most recent pic of simon you posted, and she’s not even a year. but why should he be any better cared for than the others i’ve adopted (furred, feathered and scaled)? i was on tricia’s water dragon site and read how to give him a little physical before i commit myself completely.

one prob i have is that my herp vet isn’t available on weekends, and i work all week (and she’s not open late enough for me to get there). my first concern is paracites--i know there’s some kind of paracite medicine that some people on the forums use--i can’t remember what it’s called. i’m hoping you can. also, do you know if treating them for paracites without knowing for sure will harm them? i know with dogs, if you worm them and they don’t have worms, their poo just is a little runny for a few days, but no harm done. i have been blessed with healthy, happy fat lizards so this is the first time i’ve had to wonder about it.

i’m reading they’re arboreal, but most people seem to keep them in tanks (that could be a gross mis-assuption on my part). they’d do better in a tall cage like the igs, wouldn’t they? i can see where the glass would be nice for keeping the humididty up. i’m looking up temps and humidity right now in another window--my ’puter’s being slow.

i’m cautiously excited--i hope the little guy isn’t sick. i don’t know enough to get in over my head (of course i do have annie on speed dial).

He is so cute Jesse! I agree though, really small...This is Otis, he is only a little over 1 year old....

These guys are awesome, and Otis is the biggest sweetie ever, and loves to out and about, and sometimes he will hop in and bask with the beardies if the door is open, lol....Spike doesn’t like him to much but the others do not mind him, lol...

Good luck!

Nancy

thanks, nancy. i don’t know much about the little guy yet, but i’m reading. i gave him his little physical and he seems well, just way small. i posted a ton of pics so everybody could see him and his setup. i can’t believe i’m considering learning to breed BUGS. i opened a container of superworms in petstupid and nearly dropped them! how UGLY! (but, apparently, delicious. eeeew!). i can see where that shell would make for digestion problems. i can feed him bugs and worms (tricia’s site says earthworms are high calcium, high protien and easy to digest)--i don’t think i can feed him mice. they sell them already frozen--they’re EXPENSIVE! that would be how i’d have to do that if i did it, though. i am physically incapable of putting a baby mouse in the freezer.

he stayed in his little house all night; he’s still there now. i really want to play with him, but i think i should let him settle in first. i can just put some little mealworms in his dish and he’ll find them?

No meal worms dear Jesse...super worms ...crickets...earth worms ...some fish ...minnow are better than gold fish ...but both will do ....if you are persistant they will eat greens just like the iggy too. And you know how good the calcium rich veggies are for all lizards....

I bet that guy never had it so good ...you will have him in shaope in no time...see the roach thread started by RX7 ...I just posted up there.

I am getting tired chasing you around ....LOL
or is it stalking ...??? LOL

tricia says mealworms be good... stewie seems to like them. i plan to feed him a good variety, especially since i don’t have the stomach to feed him mice.
