He’s so teeny!
he’s got that, "i may be little, but i’m BAD!" thing going on. and a beautiful face. the focus isn’t so much the camera’s fault--i shake so darn bad.
such pretty big, brown eyes! there’s about another inch and a half of tail behind my arm.
the last little part of it looks to have 3 or 4 built-up layers of shed, and he’s got a patchy spot on his back that looks like the same. i’ll give him a bath and put some baby oil on it. there’s no snout damage. i gently tapped his nose like tricia said to on her water dragon site, and he cooperatively opened his mouth. i wish my igs would do that when i have to syringe feed them! his mouth is all the same color of light pink, no gummy drool or spots or anything. his vent’s clean. his eyes are clear. they got him at a place called trader village, which is sort of a swap meet where you can buy animals. there are puppy mills right there, from what i’ve heard. i’ve never ventured there--my heart would break--but they’re famous for cheap pedigreed dogs, birds, reptiles and exotics (people around here are into sugar gliders). he’s in a TINY set up: 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 by 2 ft tall. he does have a nice climbing branch and a little pond. i bought him 20 pounds of river rocks (don’t you just love dollar tree?), and a light fixture. i’ll go get him a UVB later. she gave me a small fixture; she said she was keeping the bulb because they’re expensive--i hope she really had one for him. his tail is smooth and straight; so is his back. i felt all his little legs and no swelling or anything. he was freezing cold, and it was really cold in the house. if he’s always been that cold, it would certainly explain the lack of growth. she said she’s been feeding him crickets, mealworms, wax worms and some other kind of worms. he’s a pretty little guy and i think he’ll do okay; he seems reasonably healthy despite his size. i also brought home a grown slider turtle; i found him in the middle of the highway. i drove right over the bump, with my wheels on each side, before it registered what it was. i pulled over, turned on the flashers, and was running back down the road! i was so scared someone was going to run him over before i got there! i didn’t know a turtle could pull in that far! all i could see were nostrils! we’re calling him guthrie because that was the name of the street we were looking for. i haven’t decided whather to keep him. if i did, do you think he and stewie could live together? he’s in the bathtub right now (guthrie, that is). i have to go get a UVB. jesse |
