ok well spike checked out healthy as can be, and aries has parasites, so im pretty much doing what dragos mom had to do, give them both injections ever 2 weeks for about 3 months, and the vet said he should be doing fine, and he said aries’ bumps are scabs that ARE healing, he said that he is so weak and worn down that a tiny bump can turn into a big scab...........but he also said that there is the chance aries might not make it back to recovery but its a slight chance.........so everyone hope for the best

oh dragos mom, you said your vet showed you a easy way to get them to open their mouths???? what is it mine said just hold them tight and pull slightly on the bottom skin flap, but mine actually opened up pretty well

Glad to hear that most of your news was positive. The parasites are a pain, but definitely treatable. 2 of mine opened their mouths, but Drago wouldn’t open her mouth at the vet’s and that’s when he showed me how to use a rubber spatula to keep from damaging her mouth. I am re-worming mine again this weekend. You didn’t say what they found, but I am figuring it was a direct life cycle parasite or your vet wouldn’t have mentioned it taking 3 months to get rid of it. Make sure to disinfect your viv and everything in it or they’ll just re-introduce the parasites to themselves.

yeah i cant remember which he said he had, and forgot to get him to right it down, but he said they live in the esophogus (sp), stomach and intestines, he also said that it wasn’t one of the most common that he really expected, but its no harder to treat then the others, but he did say disinfecting the vivs was a major part of it, considering that when they shed they can have eggs come off to that will just reinfect them

but hey i really was expecting worse, so maybe itll all turn out for the best

rubber spatula great idea

Hey, Austin, glad to hear your dragon is eating well again. Sometimes they just seem to lose interest in food for a few days.
