$$$ But it’s not the cost of the dragon that gets you, it’s what your dragon needs. You need to have the right type of enclosure -> nice and tall since they like to climb, the right type of light -> UVA/UVB bulb, a heat souce -> preferably a basking light, and plenty of plants and limbs to climb on! It gets pretty expensive. If you buy a small dragon, you can keep it in a 50 gallon rubbermaid container until it gets too big. That’s what I do. I just bought a 50 gallon rubbermaid container from Lowe’s or Home Depot, then I made a lid out of PVC pipe, cable ties, and some small wire mesh. Kept the cost down for a start-up. I then built them a GIANT enclosure that is 6 foot tall x 6 foot long x 2.5-3 foot wide.

$$$ lllreptile.com ive had really good experience with these people, freindly and helpful, never heard anything bad, go to animals, look under "other lizards" towards the bottom and chrizard wouldn’t you rather pay 16 dollars for a captive bread healthy dragon as opposed to 40 for one thats prob not as healthy

$$$ Chrizard, not all Petco’s are the one near you. If you read back in the posts you’ll see the negative comments as well as the positive comments. I personally have two reptiles who both came from a Petco, they are both healthy, I would have to say that they are healthier than most I have seen at local owned pet stores. I don’t know how many times I’ve gone into local pet stores and either seen dead reptiles in the cages, or seen water dragons with their mouths gaping open because of the lack of humidity, not to mention the time that a friend of mine went to get a hamster and the lady at the local pet store dumped out the paper towel tube and out falls a hamster with scabs covering half it’s face that the store never knew about. Instead of taking it to the vet the store was planning on freezing it and selling it as snake food. Petco on the other hand takes their sick or injured animals to the vet. They have to walk the store and check all the animals every 15 mins. They clean the whole cage removing all the bedding every day in every tank. It’s all their policy to do this. Local pet stores normally don’t have these policies, and the idea of spending money to take a sick or injured animal to the vet is beyond the comprehension of most store owners. Local stores don’t have PETA watching every move they make like Petco does. Ok I’m done. Sorry it’s so long everyone, just get annoyed about all this at times.

$$$ Mickey, just keep in mind that CWD have specific requirements for humidity, lighting and viv size and that they can live to be 10-15 (or older) years. They are a long term commitment if you want to properly care for them. Please read carefully to prepare their habitat BEFORE you get the dragon! There are numerous websites with care sheets and recommended dragon environment set-up suggestions. You can spend hundreds of dollars or much less and still have a nice habitat. But they absolutely MUST have certain light, heat and humidity provisions. Good luck!
