Lzrd Girl, he is very skinny...my vet charged me $67 for the initial visit and when they diagnosed rico with parasites, the bill came to $105.00. I live in NJ, but from what i understand that is the going rate. Any exotic pet is not going to be cheap. If your WD’s are eating, that’s always a good sign...and wax worms usually fatten them up pretty well also.

my vet looked at spike and aries, and said if i always bring them together he’ll charge me for one, he did fecals, looked over and gave me medicine for $40

Yea, I agree! I wish all vets were that cheap. I’ve been to 3 different vets. 1 in Lousiana, and 2 in College Station, TX. I went on time to the vet school on Texas A&M University’s campus. He was a little better than all of the other vets. I brought in 3 dragons, but only needed 1 of them to be check out. Anyways, he gave all 3 a look over and told me they were all healthy and one just need some help shedding - that was the lil guy I brought to actually see the vet. Only got charged for the 1, but it was nice of him to just tell me the other 2 were lookin great.

I also must have found a great (and reasonable) vet. My total for an office vist, 2 fecals and 1st worm treatment (Panacur) was $58.00 Plus he showed me all kinds of useful things to help handle them for treatment and gave me dosages for the 2 I didn’t bring.

Leo’s a cool WD. When I went to the vet at Petsmart they charged 30 for the checkup, and I thought that the fecal came with the checkup and when we got to pay it was gonna be $30 and they knocked that off because they didn’t tell us it was gonna be seperate from the checkup and the de-wormer medicine was $10 I think. I have to get Merlin checked again but Emerald is to swift, nervous, and small and I don’t think I could take him anywhere without him getting lost or too stressed.

You might as well feed them. I also did some searching last night and read that you can treat your feeder fish with something called levimisole (that might not be spelled correctly) to remove parasites before you feed them to your reptiles. If leo and Katie like to eat fish it would be a shame to stop feeding them. They are an excellent food source.
