Fecal sample Ok so I’m going to try and bring in a fecal to be tested at the vet, however, how do I get it? He isn’t going in the water yet, but I don’t know if that’s good or bad. When I do find his "presents" they’re well past what I would consider fresh, solid and stuck to his furniture. So how do I go about getting it?

Fecal sample When I took Rico to the vet on Wednesday, she kept massaging his tummy over and over...she did it like she was feeling for lumps, but she was really trying to make her poop...next thing you know, fresh poop right on the silver examining counter...yuk! she said, "that’s what i was trying to get, but she gave no warning!" She also said that it was best to get the fresh sample from Rico because flagellites or whatever they’re called can’t always be detected in a 24 hour old stool sample...all of that to say...your vet should know how to get the sample for you...i think.

Fecal sample My dragons usually poop first thing in the am when the lights kick on. I waited for them to go and then scooped the fecal sample out of the pool and put it in a sandwhich bag and marked the name with magic marker. When I went back to the viv then one of the others pooped and I did the same with that specimen. I put them in the frig. until I left for work and kept them in the cold car until 8am when the vet opened. The fresher the sample the better-as Redlady mentioned-especially for protozoan flagyllates. Skrillah mentioned that her dragons will defecate after she sprays them first thing in the morning. You might try that!

Fecal sample I think a fecal check once per year is responsible care. From what I have read, if you take the fecal in and know the weight of your reptile you can get the medicine from the vet. My vet treated Drago and let me treat the other 2 at home.

Fecal sample Well I didn’t get the sample in today like I had hoped to. Right after I left for work last night we lost power, by the time I made it home at 11pm we still hadn’t gotten it back and the power company said it would be some time in the afternoon before we did. I had brought home some handwarmers and got Isfet, Stumpy(my leopard gecko), and Baby Buddha(green tree frog) in their own little containers sitting on handwarmers and a propane lantern going next to them. I was planning on bring them into the pet store I work at in the morning so I can get them setup with power again. However we got power back when I was planning to leave for the pet store. All night long Isfet didn’t go to the bathroom. I figured since they were boxed up already I’d bring them into work so my co-workers could see them. The whole trip, no poop. I showed off Isfet then went and ran some water in the big sink at work to give Isfet a soak and he went there lol. Of course by that time the vet was closing before I would be able to get there, oh the fun lol
