Paranoid water dragon. PLEASE HELP! My sugestion to all of you is to try very hard to get your dragons to equate YOU with FOOD. I have always used the bathroom as my "gathering place" because there are no nooks and crannies in it where a water dragon can get "lost". As hatchlings, I used the bath tub itself. Run hot water into it and let it stand for 5-10 minutes to warm up the tub and the room. Drain it and put a towel in the bottom of the tub. Put your dragon(s) in it and gently stroke them under the chin and on the crest. Kneel down so that you are not towering over them. Offer a few food items. If they don’t eat from your hand (and they probably won’t the first few times) let some insects run around the tub to try to get them to feed. It will take a week or two, but eventually your dragon(s) will understand that you are NOT GOING TO EAT THEM and that YOU BRING FOOD! My Chinese dragons now come to the front of the viv when I get home from work and they are waiting on the center branch in the morning after the lights kick on for mommy to feed them! I now have a new Green Basilisk named Kiwi and I began this same technique with her this mornng. She didn’t eat anything, but I will probably try again this evening. Good luck!
