there horrdle lil things lol they always do that to me aswell! mine hide under jollops pool and neva come out, uslay stay there untill they die, best thing to do is ether put ur dragon on the floor of the tank and put them right in frount of him so he can c them and get them if he wants, i also move the bark around so they become unhidden and then they run around...and failing that i put my cirkets in his water pool and put him at the side of it so he can c them and he dives in and gets them out..ive found he likes doing it that way!!
hope this helps

start by moving really slow around him/her, and DONT pick it up from the top or behind, as it will think that is going to be eaten by a bird or something, so gentaly slide your hand or a few fingers under its bellly and it should be allright and than you can hold him/her, thats what i do with my Australian dragons.

Lightly blow in the direction where the crickets may be hiding and they will run around and your dragon will see them.

hey,
like ryan said, dont pick him up till hes used to u and his surrounds, if u got a chinese dragon, they are very skittish lol i also found that talking to jollop helped, id sit by his viv for ages and just talk 2 him, i still all the time lol he givs me evli looks when he wants to sleep tho. and once he got used to me he started to come to the frount and have a look at me!! he also relised that i ment it was food time!! i also found that he jumped very high and was fast the first time i picked him up so i kept him in his viv and let him jump of if he wanted and he was safe in his viv so i didnt have to scare him by trying to grab him!! i also got him used to having my hand around him so i was holding him so i could get him out and now hes gr8!! it doesnt take long as there really tame u just need time and get used to them cin u and hearing ur voise theyll soon relise ur not a theate and enjoy being held!
gud luck

thanks a lot guys. BUt i have one more question. Do water dragons chase their preys, because mine waits until the cricket is right up to his face and then eats it. Even if he sees a whole bunch running, he wont go for them. Is this unusual?

yeah jollop does that quite often, depends how hungry he is aswell, some days he sits and watches them then when they walk under him he very lazely snaps at them and they jump away n he just watches them go!! and sits and waits again! hes neva actual ran afta one, sometimes he kinda edjes towards them with him mouth open but usaly waits so long that theyve already disapread lol this is why i put them in his water! he has to go fishing then but they cant escape!! but dont worry. if hes hungry hell get them!!

 Raise or Buy Crickets

Hi, i just bought my first baby water dragon. His name is Vegas. I have noticed that he eats alot of crickets and they are goin buy fast. Would it be cheaper to just raise my own crickets or just continue to buy them. Also when i buy like 5 dozen half of them end up dying. So what do you think i should do?

hmmm, are you feeding your crickets?? you can get feed for them, that has lots of vitamins that are good for you WD, and give the crickets water... in bottle caps.. i have been told you soak a cotton ball in water and put that in, or put the cotton ball in the cap of water .... basicly anything they can;t fall into ....oh i have seen alot of people cut a egg carton in half, and put a couple "cones" of the egg carton in for crickets ... dun know why but they seem to like it
... hope that helps ...

Oh, and ya ... they eat alot ... so buy lots (some die), or buy few (and you run to the store more often) up to you :P

Later
Jake
