I think i read somewhere that it is "ok" just powder them with calcium and vitamins ... cause they are mostly just fat ... My WD is like that to ... i used to put the crickets in a small dish in his tank, but they would always get out ... so now (you my think this mean) ... i cut the bottom half of the back leg off the cricket ... no more jumping ... and they stay in the bowel in his cage till he eats them ... he eats about 3 sometimes 4 crickets a day, (less when i first got him), and about 5 or 6 mealworms ...

Hope this helps

PS you should keep tryign different things tho, have you tired "Small Earth worms", ... you kind find em in your backyard under rocks or logs, or w/e, if you not live’n in the city ...

I personally wouldn’t just feed meal worms, they are really intended as a staple diet. Try introducing other foods, crix, locusts, earthworms, green veg(<-- kale, pea’s watercress, dandylions leaves) small fish (<--- don’t ask me what type, I haven’t fed Killer fish yet) and see if he’ll cut down on the meal worms.

The meal worms outter shell/skin is made up or contains(I can’t remember) a substance called chitin(sp?) this substance doesn’t digest very easly and can cause problems if too much is injested. Some Dragons can eat eat eat and have no problems and others seemt o have real trouble... even if yours is one of the lucky ones, it can’t be good for him to only eat one or two food items.. vary it a little and you’ll have a much happier WD :)

thx. how do you feed ur WD crickets?? mine doesnt like to chase after them; he will only eat them when they are right up to his face. therefore almost half of the crickets are left uneaten!

How old is your WD?

The movement of the crix should spark a feeding/hunting response. The water idea isn’t bad actually, WD’s usually can’t resist an easy meal like an insect struggling in water.

You could aslo try a couple of small earthworms in a dish (so they can’t escape)

i think thats a myth tho. my WD loves mealworms and i watch him devour them. he uses his teeth to shred them up before he swallows.

I have also heard that about mealworms, but i don’t think there is any need for concern, maybe with the super worms, but not the little ones ... i heard that for the super worms it is best to kill them ... so if you are worried about the little ones you could do that ... up to you ... I feed Anguis live ones ...

I used to feed my anoles mealworms and they never had a problem, though they liked crickets far better.

Well too many meal worms r bad for wds cause they cant swollow the exoskeleton as good as some lizards. it gives them indigestion, most of the time, if u want worms i wuld recomend waxworms they r soft and they seem to like them. crickets r good also
