 Hi..just a general question....

Im not sure if there are cottons but i would suspect there may be...ill have to check it

Watersnakes are not venomous...they are aggresive but not life threatening.....Cotton mouths have venom and are life threatening....

 Hi..just a general question....

Most people see any kind of snake is the water and say cottonmouth...just the word water makes them think they only live in water and no other snakes do

 Hi..just a general question....

i saw a few cotton mouths in mass... when i went up there on a school trip a few years ago.
cute little vipers

the water snakes up there are also nasty but not dangerous.....

all snakes can swim....alot are found near water. most colubrids...watersnakes, garters, ribbions, ratsnakes
and so on

watersnakes mimic copperheads and cottonmouths to scare off enemies. so there is alot of confusion sometimes when you run across one....the eyes give it away and the shape of the markings and head scales

 Hi..just a general question....

Watersnakes will flatten their heads to resemble venomous snakes as a sign of aggression..so thats not the best way to tell

The eye is usually a good way if you wanna pay close enough attentino and get close enough...

Really just takes a while and you can tell venomous from nons by just glancing...
