 How much do Silkworms eat?

I’m getting into breeding silkworms as evidence via my other posts I was wondering how much they eat I am going to be feeding a pre made but Uncooked chow via the supplier of the worms...how fast would a group of 900/1000 fresh hatched babies eat on there way up to maturiity I have only orderd a bag of one pound Uncooked chow so was wondering....... Out of 1000 eggs I’ve bought how many do ya think will hatch also?

just put 4-5, 1inch piece of chow in their daily. Remove uneaten or old chow daily.
(I keep answering your questions because their is rarely anybody on this forum)

i also had some silkworms and i fed them mulberry leafs and they ate a buch like one after the other and i dont think one pound will be enough maby 3+ pounds

ok a pound of dry chow will cook into 4 pounds, that will be more than enough(I’m asked the president of recorp.ca how much they eat, so i can give you a exact answer soon). The chow will last in the fridge for about 2 month cooked and the dry chow will last well over a year in the freezer. when you are breeding them make sure they have a constant temp, and try not to be to loud near them( stress is the number one failure reason), also i would suggest your container not having a lid, to keep the moister down... Just remember to keep them clean, warm and dry and they should do great. Oh and you will conserve your food if you grate it up instead of giving it to them in large chunks.

ok so 1 pound of dry chow will raise 1000 silkies to about 1 1/2 inchen so about 2 pounds per thousand
