I am so sorry to hear about the babies !!! I wonder how the fruit fly breeding containers would be to ship to you? If you catch them them they will be able to fly and harder for the little guys to get them. The ones I breed can not fly-they hop around sorta like the way fleas do. I could always send you a breeding container in the mail, you could pay me via paypal and I could ship them to you. Let me know-I will be glad to help you out any way that I can.

 Getting 2 for fbts! help!

I’m sorry to hear that your babies died. I have a few care tips for you, ok? Don’t try to feed them anything bigger than the size of their heads, while they can sometimes swallow food that big, it is very hard for them to digest. I say this because I read that the breeder told you they were eating crickets bigger than themselves? Also one thing I MUST say, you can keep fish in with the fbt’s JUST FINE, even the beta if it is not aggressive (though I would still keep the froglets away from the beta) You may even try buying the tiniest feeder guppies from the petstore and putting them in the water with the babies, if they get hungry enough, they WILL eat them, and baby feeder guppies are VERY small. You can also breed them very easily, and your adults may eat them too. I know for a FACT that the toxins from the fbt won’t hurt the fish, unless it is a very sensitive fish. The fish in my newt cage (oregon newt, second most toxic animal on EARTH, far more toxic than fbt’s) do better than the fish in my aquarium, and I have a beta in there too. I did have an algae eater in there that went into shock, but it could have also been that the water was too cold for him, or that he was curious and sucked on her tail for a sec (I think this is more likely) and I took him out and put him back in the aquarium and he was fine after a few hours. I have also kept a platy in there, a molly, guppies, beta fish... All of them have done fine, and the newt is so toxic I am afraid to keep her with the fbt’s. I have also had platies and guppies in with the fbt’s, and they did just fine, they even help keep the water clean by bottom feeding if you feed them fish food sparingly (every other day or so).
Keep the babies away from the adults like they said, because they may eat them. The fruit flies (flightless) are a great idea, or you can catch bloodworms live (they are FAR more likely to eat live ones, I have NEVER been able to get them to eat frozen ones, they don’t wiggle) bloodworms are mosquito larvae, you can find them in any standing water in the right season. The babies should be able to eat these, and the adults will love them. You might also try brine shrimp (sea monkeys... these should be easy for them to eat, and nutritious) get a sea monkey kit, then suck up some in an eye dropper and add to the toadlets water. BTW, even a ten gallon would be ok for 4 fbt’s because they are social amphibians, therefore they don’t need territorial space. (Have you seen the tanks they keep them in in the petstore? I don’t recommend keeping that many in a small tank, but it is certainly ok to keep even up to 5 in as small as a ten gallon. Also, you might try a bilevel cage setup, as this will greatly increase the swimming area, allow more room for fish, and also increase the amount of land you can have in one cage and still have enough water, I can provide pictures if you like, this is the way I have my newt cage set up. I only have the one fbt right now, so I don’t have his cage that way. It will also allow for a filtration system that will not bother the toads as much (they prefer standing water and will avoid water that is moving constantly) as you can have the filter pour onto the land (keeping it saturated) and the filtered water will drain through the substrate into the bottom. I think I read in another post that you used dirt from outside for you american toad? If you do this, you really need to bake it because it can (and probably does) carry parasites. This isn’t AS much of an issue for wild caught pets, but it is better safe than sorry. A better alternative is to buy fertilizer free peat moss (you can get a LARGE bag at Wal-mart very inexpensively) this will allow you months worth of changing cages, and is a safer substrate (also retains moisture well and even when packed down is still soft) Also, when you change the substrate in a cage, you can just bake the peat moss and use it again next time. It is also AWESOME for plants, and since it retains water so well, you don’t have to water the plants as often. You know those little seed starter disks you can buy? those are peat moss, and plants grow better in the peat moss than they do in soil. Also, if you decide when you change the substrate not to bake it and use it again, you can use it for mulch in the garden, or for potting soil (it will be even richer and good for plants after being in your cage for a while.) You also wont need to change it as often, just spot clean the top. Anyway, if you have any questions feel free to ask me, I have been keeping herps consistently for 5 years, and I kept frogs and toads sporadically (returned them to the wild) my whole childhood. I have only had two of my herps die, and one was because it came to me extremely ill and too young to be sold. The other I don’t know why he died, and I miss him. He just went missing one day and I finally found his skeleton a few days later after I was sure my cats had gotten him somehow. Anyway, I just want you to be sure that I know what I am talking about, I also do alot of research all the time, even for the pets I have had for a long time. I love learning as much about them as I can! Good luck when you get your new babies.

the male makes a calling sound and one rides the other..... ( the mate duh) then a bromnish whiteish jelly sack is layed..(sometimes with no eggs) if there is black eggs bingo! I would leave the sack to hatch with the parents.. but if you have snails or fish with them remove it to a tank at room temp(or same tep as tank) when they hatch theyll pretty much look like small black fish or sperm or something... feed em lettuce, algy and bloodworms, and fish flakes...

are you planing on breeding?
