I found this in a reference from another thread. I have been interested in someday breeding my female but I am now deciding I probably donít want to go for it after Sean mentioned that itís fairly likely that she could become injured or die. Thank you

hi it says that they should have their own cage. I plan on breeding mine and have them seperated. my question is should they be able to see eachother(tanks next to eachother) or should they not be able to see each other?

I would keep them out of sight of each other until time to breed. It is always better because they will become aggressive and over stimulated if in plain sight of each other all the time. Joan A.

How many eggs do they lay and how often can they breed?

i think it was like 10 to 30. and they retain sperm so i think once every year because the female can hold sperm and re-fertalize herself a couple more times in a year.

Will females still lay eggs if they have never mated?

That i dont know, i would think that their body would "absorb" the eggs nurtients and stuff for itself. But then again i dont know. if you can try and ask joanavokes.

Iíve been told that females will lay infertile eggs, without ever being with a male. They donít re-absorb, and they can get eggbound, so you should have a proper laybox available.

 Breeding Beardies 101

Hi Sean

Could you do me a big favour and look at the message on the forum entitled help.

I am totally lost and you obviously know what you are talking about. You will see that my pet shop was told by her breeder that the beardies are about 4 months old. This is rubbish. My friends beardie is about 5 months old and half the size of mine. To give you an idea, when I pick them up my hand is the same size as their belly. I reckon more like 8 months.

The problem is they look really happy together, no aggression and they sit on each other all the time. Do I split them up or not.

I would appreciate any help.

John Cantona
