Reptiglo 10.0 tube Alright that helps alot, my enclosure is 60"L x 24"W x 20"T, here are some pics of it.

When I get done with the remodel the closest part of the bulb will be about 20 inches from his basking spot.

Reptiglo 10.0 tube Thx built it myself took 2 evenings and roughly $100us for lumber. It works well, especially since I only have 1 Beardie. The top of the cage is chicken wire, yes it is real chicken wire bought from my local fram supply store, so I don’t really have to worry about the screen blocking any UVB from Alucard, like the screens for "standard" aquariums do.

Reptiglo 10.0 tube wow, thats cheap! Roughly about the same as i paid to build my dragons 3 enclosures as well, they are wood as well, with screen front, and yea, the chicken wire was a great idea!!

Reptiglo 10.0 tube Yeah, I wanna get another BD but mine has been a solitary for so long IDK how he would act to having a cagemate, Ya-kno? If you want to continue this convo, I would prefer to start another thread, cuz I don’t like the idea that we may have just Hi-jacked this crazy important thread. Although I must say we are keeping it on top of the pile.

Reptiglo 10.0 tube Oh yeah, just an update on my end of things. I just got my local pet store to pull the Reptiglo 10.0 bulbs and all of the compact/coil lights from their shelves and they ordered all new Reptisun UV tube lights, and possibly MVBs. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help of this site. YOU ALL ROCK!!! Thanks everyone for their help!

Reptiglo 10.0 tube So I’m just a little confused. I’m going out today to get Gary a new light fixture to go with his new aquarium.
So is it the ReptiSun 10.0 and the Reptiglo 8.0 that are the good lights and the Reptiglo 10.0 that’s bad. Are the two good ones also tube lights?
Thanks! And I will spread the word to everyone I know that has beardies!!

Reptiglo 10.0 tube Reptisun 10.0 and Reptiglo 8.0 are good lights Reptiglo 10.0 is bad, and the only good lights are tubes. All compact/coil lights are bad, they don’t supply enough UVB.

Reptiglo 10.0 tube I just bought the exo terra 10.0 around 4-5 days ago before reading this post or any others concerning the dangers of the uv lights being sold. After reading, what the hell brand should I buy than. I mean zoo med, thats one of the biggest herp product businesses around and they’re selling products that could harm peoples herps. Absolutely ridiculos. The light I got is for my water dragon and he can bask his entire body under the light which is only four inches away since I’ve been told by almost everyone that closer is better. Before I was’nt even using uv and he did end up developing a calcium deficiency, than I spend 30 bucks on a new bulb to help solve the problem and here I am with another. I don’t know what to do and it’s pissing me off. The herp society needs to get their stuff straight.
Steven.

Reptiglo 10.0 tube Bump! Lizardkidd: Read my post just before this one, same page just a few posts up. That is as cut and dried as its gonna get, I think. If you have some experience you can use a MVB, but from what I understand they can require more attention at start up than a standard flourescent UV bulb. Don’t Place your UV bulb a constant four inches from the WD, HOWEVER, you SHOULD have some place that your WD can climb up to so that it can get as close to the light without touching it as it needs to. I hope that I have answered your question. If not, just post a clarifying question and someone will get back to you ASAP, because this is a problem that everyone should know about.

Reptiglo 10.0 tube Hey lizardkidd, i am truely sorry for what you have been going through here, as alot of us has as well. As rallaster said the only safe ones right now is the reptisun 10.0, reptiglo 8.0. or mvb’s. I wish i could help you more but honestly i have no experience with water dragons at all, but i wish you the best of luck, and i for one know how confusing it can be with these lights, and why they are still on the shelves!...
