So i talked it over with my girl friend last night and explained to her all the positives of having a chameleon, but also how much work she would have to put into it. She said she wanted one but had to ask the person whose room she was renting for college if small pets were allowed... unfortunately he said NO. He said he did not want to take any chances on insurance purposes since he rents out the house to college students. she tried to convince him but he said no. she then suggested just leaving it with her mom at her house... 3 hrs from the college. but i then told her she shouldn’t do that it’s not fair to the chameleon. But then i asked if her sister was interested in one... that was a waste of time, she thought chameleons were slimy and gross... lol so that to would not be fair to the cham.
Anyways sorry top break the bad news to you i really do appreciate the offer and although i am unable to buy one of your chameleons i really do look forward to seeing you at the expo and meeting you.
Thanks so much and hopefully I’ll see you at the expo.

sorry to barge in on your convo Jesse but , i really reallly recommend that you keep the babies to atleast 2.5 months of age , as Rob was saying his GF would like a Cham and a Cham at 2.5 months would be a great starter im just using you as a example for new beginners, if your gona have any problems with the babies it will be in that first 2.5 to 3 months and like i said you get a lil more for them and you feel good that there going to a new home, but if you meet someone with alot of knowledge about chams and is a experinced care taker and then you may decide to let it go but its all up to you buddy just tryin to teach yea to make good decisions

Ohh, its ok Robb, i understand, so its fine, i hope to see you there too Robb, that sucks that they wont let her have a chameleon for college, but thats life, oh well, maybe another time. Oh yea Boothy, they should be older before i sell but only if people know alot about chameleons and if they wanted a young baby. So far the babies are more then 1 month old, soon they will be able to be for sale to everyone.

Ok guys, i have a new problem with my babies, 2 of the 17 i have are doing bad, they look like they are going to die because they look very skinny, there eyes are 1/4th open and their heads look flat, its weird, i dont know whats wrong with them, everyone else is fine. Can anyone help me quick. Thanks.

if they aren’t eating i read that there are some chameleons that won’t eat crickets and apparently you can feed them the fruit flies instead... but i’m not sure if this would be the problem or not. if they are all in one cage i would seperate the two that seem to be doing bad just in case it’s a serious disease and you don’t want it to spread. but if it’s just because they are not eating try to seperate them and monitor them when you feed them if they dont eat crickets try the fruit flies apparently they can’t resist them... hopefully i’m not way off on this one and if i am i’m sure someone can correct me.

hey Jesse by the way you described the babies are abit deformed but thats for you to tell cause i have no pics to tell from but it could also be just that they were not made to make it, mother nature is cruel sometimes but split them up into there own enclosure and give them baths for the mean time and just feed and water like mad!!! and if they die they just wernt strong enough but dont be sad cause its not your fault jesse but keep me updated

Hey, thanks for the info you guys, well i had 4 babies that wernt doing well, 2 died, one is better and opened tis eyes and moving and the other one is still alive but sick, and yes they were seperated, i put the four in a shoe box. I dont think they are deformed, i just think they are really skinny but we will find out, alright thanks. Well the expo is this sunday and i plan on getting alot, i plan on getting a green tree python, a jungle carpet python, a royal python, and a crested gecko, and maybe a few dart frogs if i can, oh and supplies. Its alot but i have the money.

Hey jesse just wondering how those babies are doing? hopefully they are ok now... anyways i’m pretty excited about that reptile expo, but i may not be able to go, my work booked me and now i have to find someone to take my shift, anyways hopefully i will be able to go and i’ll meet you there, I’ll let you know if i got work off tomorrow. if i cant get it off then i’m sure my bro will tell me how it was since he is going. he says he wants a ball python, or RTB, lol he loves snakes. anyways if i go i am definitely picking up a couple more T’s for my self... hope to see you there.

Hey Robb, the babies are all doing good, the 2 that were sick died but im over that, they died because they were too small and wernt eating but now the rest of the babies are alot bigger to die like the other did so ill be fine with the rest now. Oh i hope you get someone to take your shift, or just call in sick, lol but hopefully you’ll get someone to take your shift and i hope to see you there. Oh thats cool, how olds your bro, im getting a couple of snakes myself at the expo, ill be getting a green tree python, a jungle carpet python, a ball python, and a crested gecko. Just 3 more days. lol ye i know we wouldnt want it falling to far down.. lol my bro is 14 turning 15 in november, and at first he knew alot more than i did about snakes, reptiles, pretty much every exotic pet there is he knew more than me about except arachnids, since i have been looking into them since i was little, like 7 or 8. also this is why i am not prejudist against people younger than myself since i know first hand it’s not age that gives a person there knowledge it is experience! However since i have recently gotten into reptiles and other exotics, i have been cracking open the books and browsing the web to do research, and now know alot more than what i ever expected. I learned alot from my lil bro but i also learned alot more from web pages, and books.
And i don’t think i will be able to get work off, i work at state farm insurance in an agents office and there are only 4 of us who work here so my chances are slim since only two people dont work this sunday.
Anyways i will keep trying but there is like a 10% chance maybe of me getting this shift off.

Yea, leos are easier to breed, i had 2 myself and they bred and i got 2 fertile eggs, but i sold the 2 leos afterward.

When you breed females too often or too young it starts to reduce there life span. You should of definitly waited to her first clutch of inferts but even then I would of waited till the second just to make sure is good. Always provide well gutloaded and dust insects with calcium about every feeding. Females are known to get mbd when pregnant and not recieving enough calcium. Do not overfeed females as this will only make them lay more eggs which will also lower there life span.

My summer has been awesome, i am working at state farm insurance and have been making some good money, As well i do umpiring so i have been making alot of money from that too. My lil bro is getting his baby BCI (red Tail Boa) today so he is happy about that, and i am thinking about getting a few more T’s. My cham seems to be gravid so i am exopecting some infertile eggs soon (next week or two) and i have been getting some great advice on her from boothy, so definitely can’t complain. She seems happy though showing bright green with turqoise coloring, but still isn’t eating alot... mainly just drinking like crazy. anyways hopefully your summer has been going well too.

Rcagosto sorry to burst your bubble but if you would have scrolled through the other pages we have already explained that feeding them smaller amounts of food decreases the amount of eggs and this makes there life span just abit more but thanks alot for replying that was a short but had some good info

yea with her startin to decrease her intake shes close to laying her eggs Rob , she will completely stop eating for 3 or 5 days after that get a vet ASAP! or try force feeding to get her appitite back iv done it with my female i just pulled on her gular her neck piece and she opend up and i just kinda tossed it in there and she mowed down on it but that was after a URI upper resptory infection so your female shouldnt have problems at all by the way you describe her she sounds very healthy so just make sure you got that lay bin in there and let mother nature take its coarse but sory for the novel here ahah and ill be talkin to yea later robb and jesse peace

Yea im probally going to be getting the sub adult green tree python and i will be breeding and producing them myself, i will also be producing carpet pythons. Now for my babies, i had a bad first clutch because alot died but now i now how to take care of my second clutch. I already have 2 people on my waiting list and i will be selling the babies when they are big enough to eat small crickets no problem. Now how long doesit usually take for them to grow that size and change the food item to small crikets?? I pretty much have all of the eggs hatched, now im just waiting for my second clutch t hatch, that clutch is looking so good, they are all pearly white still, my other eggs turned brown by then. This clutch is 6 months old now so any day they should hatch.
