Dude im sorry to hear this stuff, sorry i wasnt on for a while i have to use the computer at my school or at a friends house because mine is screwed up, again sorry to here the bad news, congrats serenity for your female, but yea ou gotta wait a few weeks after they mate. I cant wait until my next clutch is going to lay, i really do want a big clutch, any advice, i sure am feeding her alot, some of those green worms and some crickets, alot of calcium, any advice to fatten her up or am i doing alright?? Again sorry for your loss and congrats serenity.

thanks jesse but you really dont want a big clutch they will eat you out of your home cause my 34 i got now are just eating machines they ate 3000 crix last week, if i was you i wouldnt want a big clutch cause your putting your female at risk of being egg bound and slow her calcuim intake to about 2 dustings a week she should have a nice clutch i keep mine on a feeding chart i feed her everyday but i only feed her 8- 10 crix a day and her first clutch was 69 eggs and the next was 64 and the next was 45 so its gone down a bit since her first one and trust me its alot easier on her to lay 40 eggs instead of 60 or more but its your chameleon im not gona tell you how to take care of it im just saying you should lay off making her a big egg laying machine and she should live longer but its totally up to you jesse

Ok I understand Boothy, sorry i havnt been on in a while, my internet is screwed up at home so i have to use the computers at school or at a friends, It will soon be fixed. Anyways yesterday my female layed her eggs yesterday, she layed 40 to be exact, and together from this clutch and my last clutch i have 78 total. My first clutch of 38 should hatch next month, it will be 6 months if we hit febuary and so far they have been incubating for 5 months so im very close. She didnt lay in the dirt but she layed in a corner and layed some more on the side, i do think they are fertile. Anyways sorry i havnt been on, keep this forum up to date.

hey jesse congrats on the successful laying again , and yea man your almost there just another month or two max and they will be ripping around, and 40 eggs is good not to big and not to small but keep all those eggs until they start to mold cause by the time you get rid of these babies those other eggs will hatch and you will be starting all over again with new babies my chameleon has layed 3 clutchs her first 69 and then her second 65 and then 45 so shes layed 184 eggs in total wow that could of been alot of babies lol but yea ill keep this post going dont worry jesse but ill ttyl man peace

Hey guys here’s a funny one for ya, my little boy Chaos free roams and guess what he found today.....Serenity’s cage! lol Well needless to say a very gravid Serenity became extremely pissed !!!!! All of a sudden I catch the plants in her cage moving and there she is mouth wide open, rocking back and forth and makeing herself as big as she could. Poor Chaos just kept backing up like he got the picture... she wants nothing to do with him. What a sight to see. Well hopefully she will lay these eggs soon. They aren’t fertile and Jonas told me that she will hold onto them for as long as possible but how long is that? It;s been 40 days since her xray, I just don’t want her to become eggbound. Any help would be appreciated. Here’s some updated pics!

once your female has layed her first clutch she will lay eggs every 80-100 days so who knows how long they can actually hold them but if you have your lay box in her cage then she will know wat it is and use it when the time comes to lay so dont worry let mother nature do her thing

Thanks for the help guys we’re really nervous and very concerned about her becoming egg bound. We’re trying our best to be patient and have plenty of things for her to lay in so it’s mother natures turn now. This is the first I’ve heard about the reabsorbtion can you give a little more input on that AJ? Just a note too my male found his way over to her cage and she DEFINATELY did not want to mate! I’m not sure if this means anything as far as the laying goes but I thought I’d mention it.

Lol, Thats funny serenity, yea mine did the same, rocked back and fourth with its mouth wide open puffin and hissing and as black as it can get. And yea your right Boothy, I dont want too much but i dont want a little either so 40 eggs is just a good amount. I will be going to the reptile expo to sell them all and rent a table and sell all my chameleons for 70 each, i got mine for 100 each. I will keep 2 babies though for myself. Hey whats up Alan, havnt seen you in a while. Serenity if you do want them to mate just try every once a week, it worked on my 4th try. Serenity, it took my female to lay after they mated, maybe about 3+ weeks and she layed her nice clutch. Thanks alot for the info Boothy but i have a question. So my female layed her eggs not in the dirt but in her favourite place whcih was behind the laying box, does this mean anything?? After she layed her eggs it was weird because she then went into the dirt and started pushing all of the dirt onto her eggs and the eggs wernt in the dirt but on the ground. Peace Out Everyone.

i dunno she prolly figured im not diging this time theres a perfect hole there to lay them in or she thought it was the lay box and layed them then coverd them up , iv never heard of one doing that befor but for serenity for her puffing at your male she didnt want to breed so shes most likely to lay within the next month becuase my female would hate my male like 3 or 4 weeks befor laying her eggs, jsut keep an eye on her and you will know when the time comes cause she will be scratching at everything in the bottom of the cage , i use paper towel and i know when shes ready cause she just shreds the papertowel to nothing and moves these soft river rocks i have to keep the pptowel down but ill ttyl guys later

Hi S Horvath and all ,don’t get on much wot with my full time night shift job then part time job in the pet shop and not forgetting my small reptilian friends don’t get much time for this .(S 2006 )as for the reabsorbing thing it is just something i read in a book cant elaborate more as it was some time ago.
Update on my chams, both are fine all baby’s from her 3rd clutch i have moved on ,am know waiting for her 4Th clutch to hatch in approx 30 days time but female is again bulging at the ribs with her 5Th clutch so hear is hoping all goes as smooth as the last clutches .

They come and they leave... I was actually hart-broken when I had tried everything my knowledge would let me to try to save my female calyptratus, but finally I had to put her down.
She laid 3 clutches; The first and unfertilized was 83 eggs. The second and fertile clutch was 103 eggs, 95 hatched. Finally she laid 56 eggs (no new mating), but with problems - she only laid eggs from her one ovary, probably egg-bound in the other. Out of these eggs, about half hatched, but only 2 are alive today - most probably due to maternal effects.
I just might have had the female who hold the world record in eggs/young, yet I never over-fed her and held her on a strict diet.

Jonas: You haven’t posted any pics of your female’s offspring. You were going to keep some weren’t you? I’d like to see how they turned out. They should be about the same age as mine.
