um to clarify another persons post, gila are not poisonous. there are not any lizards in the world that are. they do however in the wild in particular and sometimes in captitvity have a bacterial coctail that can be extremly deadly. but you would be fine if you got bitten and got to a hospital right away. and i mean RIGHT AWAY. the bacteria in the bite is EXTREMLTY aggressive and can kill quickly. but again it’s an infection not venom. komodos are the same way.

You cannot pick them up in the wild, they are protected and you will get fined if caught doing it.

wooks1 you are incorrect. komodos DO in fact have venom glands in their lower jaws thanks to research done years ago no lizard is POISONOUS but some lizards are VENOMOUS gila monsters also have venom glands and so do other beaded lizards thank you.

Thank you Rexx for clarifying him. I was about to do it. Many people who seem to want Gilas or Beadeds on here need to do more research before owning any. I own 3 gilas and 2 beadeds and indeed they are venomous, they are not as calm as everyone seems to think also.

It is the in-experienced keepers who try to handle and care for such animals that ruin it for everyone else who actually know what they are doing.

that is true i have not owned a gila but plan to in the future but i do own a mangrove snake which is mildly venomous. i hope to obtain a gila ot beaded in the future because they are beautiful animals.
