That looks tasty ! I just fixed Ziggy the afternoon meal with snap beans, snap peas, collards, and some crushed mango. I will pick up some alfalfa soon. Whats in is cage right now is alfalfa meal. The package said easily digestable, but I haven`t seen Ziggy eat any of it.

ok, here’s an issue: donatello doesn’t like any vegetables that aren’t cooked (except his greens). i’m delighted with the rabbit pellet idea. i’ve been feeding him this one iguana food that has a lot of alfalfa--i soak it in water for him because he won’t touch it dry. he likes it wet, tho, and i figure it gets a little water into him (i’ve seen him drink twice). i tried wetting the rabbit pellets but they turned into mush and he didn’t like that, either. i’m going to try this salad--maybe i could sneak raw veggies into it? he eats nearly nothing. is that strange? i figure his stomach can’t be very big. he sheds nearly constantly and poos every day.

I think that freezing food isn’t good for Iggies. The freezing process breaks down the B12 in anytype of vegie... fresh everyday is the best way... anoying as it might be... the vegg bags I saw on t.v have worked really well in keeping greens good for over a week!!! My husband loves vegies too the the hard part for me is keeping food in the fridge for both man and lizard >.<

haha yea i have always done fresh...i was having a hard time keeping things fresh for more than 2 or 3 days until i got to talking to one of my customers at work, and she said that after i shred everything, to put a paper towl (folded up) in there, and it soaks up the gases that cause food to go bad...so now veggies last me a week. i have no problem doing fresh either (cept chopping and preparing) and its not all that costly. everything she gets (collards, turnips, mustard greens, peppers, and fruits) are like 1$...then i get her other stuff that is still nicely priced.

cant really give a solid salad idea as i change mine around for her. this morning was collards, turnip greens, a bit of bok choy (her fav) and a "melon trio" which was a bit of watermelon, honeydue, and cantalope. i also added a few pieces of green peppers in for her. lol. but i play around a lot with the squashes, peppers, greens, and fruits. i know i couldnt stand eating the same thing day in and out. but there is always a "staple" veggie in there for her. usually collards. she loves her collards.

woo hoo!!! donatello likes it!!! i was really worried--he’s such a brat. but his tongue was flicking the whole time he watched me make it, and he was straight for the dish when i put it down. he also loves frozen strawberry fruit bars. the cold puts him off, but he’ll recover (he smacks--it’s so funny!) and come back for more. other than that, he doesn’t care at all about fruit. does anyone else’s iguana eat strange stuff?

yea, i read one way of doing this was to put them near their water bowl, and but a piece of their favorite fruit in the water, and encourage them to try and eat it.
